choosing a Cabin ... PRIDE

Recommended Posts

I spoke with Carnival today and we are looking at an extended balcony cabin (free upgrade) so the choices she had left were for the Verandah Deck

http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=PR

the cabin numbers to choose from are

7191, 7176, 7189, 7174, 7185 and 7256

the last number is situated farther back on the ship (I think... how the heck do you know what is the front and the back of the ship?)

Most of the rooms are across from an inside cabin but 7191 seems to have nothing in the center..... is this better or not???

Can you tell I'm new at this! LOL

Thanks for any advise or suggestions you have to offer!

All the cabins you list are cabins for four. I assume you are a party of four?

The first five cabins are all the same as far as I can tell. I wouldn't be concerned one way or another about the empty space across from 7191.

I think all five cabins are a good choice. This deck is between passenger decks so it should be quiet. If I had to choose I would pick 7256. It is close to both the main dining room and the Lido buffet and the laundry room is close by but far enough to not be an issue with noise. The laundry is located across from cabin 7267.

The five cabins bunched together are toward the front of the ship. Camp Carnival is in the extreme front of the ship as is the main show lounge and the casino.

I'm going to agree with yst347 in choosing 7256. We were in an aft cabin, on the Pride...same deck, in January and loved it. It's close to the stairs and elevators and those elevators were never busy. You can easily get to the Lido (for your buffet, pizza, ice cream, etc) and if you go down to deck 2 on those elevators you'll come out directly in front of the dining room and Beauties Dance Club.

The other locations are good as well......I'd just prefer 7256 if I had to choose.

Thanks YES we are a family of 4... we'll be cruising with our two sons (age 3 and 6).

No worries Maxamuus... we'll be crusing in June. You can make all the noise ya like... and have FUN! ;)

yst347... you suggest the farther cabin then. Being that we are on the Verandah Deck I am assuming we would be high enough up to not experience the engine vibration that I have heard discussed (I know it would be something to consider for my husband, he is sensitive to those kind of things)??? I've just heard that mid ship is best as far as movement and potential seasickness goes.... my boys have never cruised before so I am not sure how they will do (I know I did fine as a child on much smaller ships though!)

Thanks for your advise so far.... I really appreciate it!

Beware what you saw as the "empty" spaces - those are likely to be storage/supply/ice closets. I have heard complaints about the stewards constantly going in/out of them and slamming doors.

Personally I would choose 7185 over another suggestion of 7256. The reason is Camp Carnival is at the front of the ship and 7256 is towards the rear. It will be easier for you to get there from your room. I know - we had a cabin 7351 on a prior cruise and was constantly walking the length of the ship to get the children's area. Great exercise, though.

Have fun!

In looking at the deck plans it looks like the "extended balconies" also are right above the lifeboats...Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that block some of your view of the ocean?...

You are correct...the down view would be blocked a bit. Some on CC aren't bothered by it and there are some who are. For my first Miracle we had 3 extended in a row (Verandah) after explaining it to the ladies, they had me change to 3 regular..........for us. we don't want the lifeboats below.......

For my second Miracle we took the forward upper deck extended....the glass is at an angle and there are no lifeboats....lots of waves against the hull action(what we love to watch). The extra room was very nice

If I was to book again I think I would book in this order:

1) cabins extended upper deck forward....we had the first 3 balconies with the connecting interior cabin for the kids.......AWESOME!!!

2) same situation with regular balconies on 2 of the decks above the upper

3) any other cabin(s) in the same area if not the first

4) Center of the extended area(can not be too far forward/aft in the recessed area)....again, the extra room was nice (I know it's above the lifeboats, but that would let me experience it to see if less down view would be an issue for me).

5) the regular balconies....NOTHING wrong with them

To the OP........the only thing I would watch out for is being in the center.......the cabins you mentioned are good for this reason.

The aft one is good for quick access to the dining room like the others have mentioned........but the forward of the bunch would be better for camp carnival.

THEY ARE ALL GOOD!!! IMHO!!

Thanks a lot for all that info! Seems like a weird design (in looks and practicality) with the off-set cabins....I think if I book on the Pride I'll trade the extra room in favor of the better view.

Now I just have to decide if my next cruise is going to be the 7 day Mexican Riviera onboard the Pride (stops in PV, Mazlatan and Cabo) or the 6 day Western Carribean onboard the Freedom (stopping in Key West, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios)....decisions, decisions....

I booked my first (Triumph) because I wanted a newer ship and thought the Spirit class was odd/weird/ugly.....so I can understand.

I LOVE this class ship now........I will have a NY Miracle (already did Tampa and FLL) or a Legend Tampa booked in the near future

And I want to do an Alaskan

I am on the Spirit which is the same class ship. They put me in 6255 which is the farthest forward cabin of the extended balconies toward the aft section. There are 2 sections of extended balconies - one forward and one aft and mine is in the aft section near the rear elevators. So my view is blocked of where we are going as well as the water below. I had a regular balcony 2 decks higher & they moved me to an extended balcony to be closer to my group and I'm not so sure the move was a good one. I like the idea of having more room on my balcony but at a high cost of losing visibility which was a main reason for booking a balcony in the first place. I can't complain about it either cuz I booked an 8A guarantee so it is what it is. My group leader made the decision to get us all on the same deck and our TA got us upgraded to an extended balcony. I happened to get the worst of the group so I'm a little leary of the cabin they put me in. Its okay though. I'll have a great time either way but I'm gonna take advantage of the balcony and be out there a lot. Just wish I could see the water below instead of looking at a life boat:mad: .

Yukon.....

I've never been, and only read reviews about being too far forward/aft in the recessed area. As we all know, you can take or leave peoples comments. Looking forward to reading how it works out for you.

I would never intentionally book the edge of the recess area.........but going with an cat8 guarantee........you are on the ship with a balcony.......less money. It's all good.

I think the aft area is good for ease in getting into the dining room. Each area has it's pros/cons.

Have a wonderful cruise!!

Thanks and I will post a review of how it all turns out for me. I will have a great time. There is still a possibility that I will be moved again because our TA is trying to get our rooms closer together (if that is possible). We are still pretty close in my opinion. All about 4 cabins apart. I will have good access to the rear elevators that takes me to dinner & the lido deck and as you said, I have a balcony at a good rate so I ain't complainin'!

Does anybody know if the pool at the rear on the Spirit class is what they call the adult only deck (topless). It looks like the kids pool is above it so I don't think so but I've heard on the cc boards about a topless deck and I want to avoid the area. Just my personal preferance to avoid it (nothing against anyone JMO). It would be really convenient for me to go to it from my cabin so I want to make sure so I'm not in for a surprise:eek: when I show up. I'm not into looking at other womens tatas.:)

We just booked a couple of weeks ago for the pride and there was a few aft extended balconies available. Due to the layout of the ship, we decided to go aft. We have never been aft. We will be on the panarama deck. Does anyone have a pic of those balconies? I know the glass will be slanted, but nothing other than that. Will people be able to look down on us from the lido? Thanks!
