miami recommendations

We are looking at a cruise leaving out of Miami and would like some recommendations for a place to stay if we fly down the day before the cruise that offers airport transportation plus transportation to the port. Last time there we stayed at a LaQuinta which wasn't bad but the surrounding area left a lot to be desired.

When are you cruising?

we stayed at the La Quinta Inn Miami Airport East, which was okay for one night but there was nothing with in walking distance of interest. if all goes well there will be six of us traveling together, ages 5 to 71. we are planning on sailing on either the Liberty or the Freedom of the Seas in Oct. 2009.

I would not base my hotel requirements around shuttle service. If you read the boards, many report that the free shuttle was more of a pain than an asset.
