Beave8920 Posted February 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2008  I just got off the Elation and one of the casino dealers told me that all "tips" earned in the casino are pooled company wide (not shipwide) every day because cruises with sea days make better tips than those with more port days. He continued to tell me that after all tips are collected, Carnival Corp takes 40% for themselves, and the remaining 60% is split among all casino employees/dealers company wide on a weekly basis. If this is true, (and the dealer I spoke to swears it is), the Carnival Corp has stooped to a new low taking a share of the tips ....has anyone else heard of this? sea_u_onboard Posted February 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2008 There is another thread on this. The way it was explained there 60% stays onboard the other 40% is pooled fleet wide and distributed to help offset those ships that the itineraries aren't as "productive" for tips. Beave8920 Posted February 14, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 14, 2008 thanks....that makes more sense! This dealer didn't speak very good english and I suspect we didn't understand each other very well. I would hate to think that Carnival kept their tip money.
