Where does Bermuda get its drinking water?

Do houses have to have cisterns to catch rain water? Is there a desalinization plant? Is it brought in from somewhere else by barge?

Under the house, there's a swimming pool sized tank, bigger or smaller depending on the house. The roof is a water catch, catching the rain and filling the tank. If you run out, the water truck companies have access to fresh water lenses in the ground at various locations around the island, but only so much water can be taken from these over a period of time, because if you drain them too much, there's a danger of the lense collapsing. Places like golf courses that need lots of water have a huge water catch, basically the side of a hill cemented over to catch rain with a big tank at the bottom of the hill. We also have desalination here, but reverse osmosis is very expensive.

Well that sure explains the big "parking lot" on the hill that we always see to the left just before Tobacco Bay.:cool:
