Car rental

Has anyone ever rented a car for the day on Roatan, rather than book a tour? We've booked Victor Bodden, but I'm thinking I'd rather pick up a car and do our own thing. The island isn't that big, and I've got a great map (a co-worker has property there). I've found four rental car agencies; I've got inquiries into two of them so far. Pros? Cons?

Thanks!

Personally if you have a map that maybe the way to go. We went with Diane and did a tour with her grup and we had a driver all to ourselves all day so she took us on a tour, we stopped whereever we wanted, but of course we stopped on the side of the road also every now and than and felot oboliged to buy from the kids selling items. We did have a great time with her and will do it again only because we don;t know the island very well nor did we have a map. I hope someone answers regarding the rental car, it would be nice to know.

Good luck
