Just Off Sensation

Welcome home to all of you who may have been on the Sensation with me 2/14 - 2/17.

We had a great time. Although i suffered with a headache the whole weekend, we had fun.

Embarkment went smooth and simple. with the new way of doing the paper work on line, we only had to show passports and credit card.

we were on the ship by 1130 am. we headed to Lido to have lunch. I must say the food was quite good in my opinion. We stayed there till about 1250 pm when we headed to our floor to wait to get into the room. We were n our room by 120 pm. For 3 people, our cabin was a little cramped since we had a walker with us, and then rented a wheelchair for me.

We were on E-deck at the back of the ship. On Friday, they begin construction. noise form 8 am to 5 pm. drilling, hammering, etc. Was very annoying.

We did report it on Saturday morning to the purser desk, and all of a sudden it stopped. But it went on till about 2 pm on Saturday before stopping.

The bed was uncomfortable. i felt like I was sleeping with my head in a well. REquested extra pillows from Steward so I could prop myself up a little more.

Nassau was ok. About like normal. Crowded because of 5 ships in that day. Stores were packed. I was supprised to see Sean from the Glory there. We had sailed with him in September. He did remember me though. Got a good deal on Bacardi Gold 2/15$ at the bacardi store in Nassau. not bad, but they put the wrong room number on it, and had to have them hunt down my Rum on Friday night. They had transcribed the last 2 digits backwards. instead of 36, they put 63. But they found it, and that was what mattered.

We did not get to go to Atlantis because it had started raining, and to be honest, my head hurt too bad to go.

We did do the casino, and won quite a bit. but like usual, most of it went back in the machines. When i finally did cash out my card, we headed to pursers desk after buying our final photos, and paid off our sail and sign card. But before we could catch our DD, she had charged something. OH well, it was less than 5$ so no big deal.

Dinner was great all nights. We ate in the main dining room all 3 nights. Ordered room service on Saturday night because we just wanted to relax. So it was easier for our midnight snack to call room service.

Sunday came too fast. But dismebarkment went well. we were number 21, so it was smooth and easy getting off the ship. A long line at the exit, so I stayed in line, and send family after luggage. Good thing too. There were about 100 people in line after me.

Customs was simple. A quick look at our passports, and we were gone. We were actually home by 11 am.

Daughter loved club 02. There were about 120 teens in the group this year. mainly because there were 2 school bands on board, plus all the individuals.

I don't know anything about camp carnival, but did hear one kid ask his mom if he could go to Camp carnival as we were dismebarking. So they must have had a good time in there.

Well, that is it. Any questions? let me know. I will do my best to answer them.

Hi, thanks for the review! My family will be going on our first cruise on the Sensation. I do have a few questions. What was up with the construction? Did you ever find out exactly what they were working on? Also, I know you were on Empress deck, aft- we will be on the Main- aft- did you notice any more noise or motion being aft? Also, what seating did you have in the dining room, and was it a good one for you? Did you go to any onboard activites/shows, and if so, how were they? And what was up with the bed, I have heard only good so far about the mattresses. Do you mind me asking me which cabin you were in. So sorry to hear about your chronic headache, I know that can really get in the way of fun. And the weather in Nassau, bummer. But it sounds like you have a good time otherwise- good food always helps:D Thanks again for your review, I am really looking forward to my cruise on the Sensation!

Hi, thanks for the review! My family will be going on our first cruise on the Sensation. I do have a few questions. What was up with the construction? Did you ever find out exactly what they were working on? No, we never found out what was going on. I am going to write carnival guest relations about it though. Our only day to sleep in was ruined.

Also, I know you were on Empress deck, aft- we will be on the Main- aft- did you notice any more noise or motion being aft? Not much noise other than the construction, and what we believed to be anchor. Motion. yes, there was quite a bit of motion, but we did have rough seas all weekend due to a storm system that had gone through. Also, what seating did you have in the dining room, and was it a good one for you? We do 5:45 seating. It works well with us because tht is our dinner time at home. Did you go to any onboard activites/shows, and if so, how were they? They do an 80's music review that was really good. We normally don't do onboard activities other than an occasional show. DD does however, and she says they are a lot of fun. They had a mini golf contest. Toss across contest, hairy chest, and a few others.

And what was up with the bed, I have heard only good so far about the mattresses. It could have just been me. My back had been bothering me some anyway. That is the first bad mattress we have had. Then it was only my side that was bad. His side was comfy.

Do you mind me asking me which cabin you were in. No, I don't mind. E236. So sorry to hear about your chronic headache, I know that can really get in the way of fun. And the weather in Nassau, bummer. But it sounds like you have a good time otherwise- good food always helps:D Thanks again for your review, I am really looking forward to my cruise on the Sensation!

Try the casino on these games. Golden Monkey 1 cent machine (need to play 1.25 per pull for any real profits), Neptunes Fortunes, Fariys Fortune. These two are 1,2,and 5 cent machines. some of the penny and 2c machines did well also.

Hi there!! Was so nice to meet you and your family. Took us awhile, I think we all must have just been going around in circles!:D I met your daughter in the gift shop later in the afternoon.

We didn't get home till around 5pm, but there was a reason behind it! I had been in the ER all afternoon, and now I will tell you the rest of the story!:D

Remember when I told you that we missed the turn, and had to call Carnival several times to get directions, (we were 60 miles past our turn off) well, Drew asked me to get a map from the back seat and when i did, I kind of fell, and hit the arm rest. I was on the ship all weekend with a couple of broken ribs! Just got home from the ER a little while ago, and they asked if we still made the cruise, I told the DR. that nothing short of rigor-mortis setting in was going to keep me from that Valentine cruise!!;)

Was there some sort of huge outdoor screen/panel attached to the front of the funnel deck?

Not as of yet do they have the big screen. That comes with the updates and referb probably later this year, or early next year. Rumor has it, they may also get flat screen tv's in all the rooms, and someone else told me wifi in the cabins. Now that would be nice.

SherryLynn - sorry to hear abou your broken ribs. I just wish I knew what was causing my headache. Have had it since Friday morning. Yes, I suffered with it all weekend too. But I took a ton of Tylenol all weekend to keep it down.

The smoke and the music did not help when it was really bad though.

Of course, I don't spend that much time on the deck in winter months when cruising. Wind is too chilly.

So if they did have it, I could not tell you. Makes no difference to me. They always show stupid movies on the cruises anyway.
