disneylover89 Posted February 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2008 My family would love to take a cruise to Alaska in July or August 09. We have two children who will be 15 & 11. My family loves to fish and loves to view wild life. What cruiseline and itinerary would you recommend for our family? I don't really care where we leave from. Thanks for all your opinions! gazingm42 Posted February 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Disney Lover, Be prepared for lots of input on this one. Everyone has different priorities on what is important to their cruise. I would do some reading on this site on the different ports in Alaska. There several lines which all do a good job. You need to figure out whats import ports, cost, direction (north vs south), Roundtrip vs oneway. IMHO we love Carnival, so do my kids. We have not had any complaints with the Alaska cruise on the Carnival spirit. We are doing our 3rd trip this Summer and are looking forward to our trip. All ports will have wild life viewing excursion. Just depends on what type and how much $$ you want to spend. Good luck.
briangl Posted February 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Our family was on the NCL Pearl last Summer. My 9yo daughter loved the kids club, swimming pool, and the ducks in Ketchikan.

Budget Queen Posted February 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Kids will have a great time on any Alaska cruise, since so much is outside the ship. I do encourage people to plan for the adults. The differences are many. You need to first decide, how much time you have and IF you want a one way cruise with interior touring, which is highly recommended for one ways. (take advantage of being all the way there). With a one way, your best bargain in all of Alaska for wildlife is Denali Park. :) With your wildlife priority, you need to budget for tours. Not likely to see wildlife without them.
