annfi Posted February 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2008 I've spent the last couple of days frantically searching for 3 nights in London pre-cruise in June. Using recommendations on this site, Trip Advisor and Fodors Europe travel forum. We need a triple as 17 year old daughter will be with us. So Priceline is out unless we want to book 2 rooms. We like the idea of a bed and breakfast for more "atmosphere" and the BIG breakfast! Luna Simone and Winchester Hotel are soldout for our dates. We are now deciding between two: Cartref House in Belgravia triple 126 pds per night and Arran House in Bloomsbury 113 pds per night. Both include bkfst and all taxes and are ensuite. Cartref is recommended in Rick Steves book and is #25 on Trip Advisor for b & b's. Arran House is #4 on Trip Advisor. Originally my hubby wanted to stay in Belgravia area but he has always been curious about Bloomsbury area. If anyone has experience with either of these properties or areas we would love to hear! I would love to get this part settled and move on to other arrangements. I must say, this makes me so happy to think we are on a cruise the rest of the time and won't have to struggle and worry about hotels!!!!
Rare vickykay Posted February 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2008 myself and my two daughters stayed for a week a couple of years ago at the Hart House (in Marylebone, just a few blocks north of Oxford St) - a lovely B & B (described in frommers) we had a triple room (relatively large, but basic, no frills) (3 twin beds) on the top floor with a very large bathroom - and a great breakfast - very atmospheric, old georgian house, etc, very conveient area - reasonable (at the time at least) Triples are hard to find. enjoy your stay. vicky
annfi Posted February 29, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Hi Vicky, Thank you for the recommendation. I just read about the Hart House on Trip Advisor and checked their triple rates - looks like 145 pounds per night. Since we have two options for quite a bit less I think I'll stick with one of those although I still can't decide which area we should go with. I also posed this question on Rick Steve's forum and on Fodors Europe forum and the answers are pretty split between the two areas so I guess we can't go wrong! I also just discovered that Trip Advisor has a London forum so I'm going to post on there as well. Geez, the internet is amazing but one could spend all day every day researching all of this!
