Hotels Near the Cruise Terminals?

I'm leaving on the Carnival Destiny 5/4/08 and looking for a hotel that is close to the terminals. I know the Sheraton is right across the street, but are there any hotels within walking distance to the terminals?

My PVP said she stayed at the Marriott Old San Juan when she went on hte cruise last month and it was right across the street. I looked on Marriott's site, but the closet I found was the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino. I called them and they said they were not within walking distance.

Does anyone know if there are any other hotels that are within walking distance??

to the Carnival Destiny. We stayed at their sister property the Calta house, 2 weeks ago. We would have stayed at Da House but we wanted one room that would accomodate our family of 6. Da House is about a 5 minute walk to the Carnival terminal. The place is clean and well kept. A little noisy at night till about 2am. But with really decent rates for Old San Juan. I think a room that can sleep 4 runs about $80 US.

Any hotel in OSJ will be "walking distance" to the dock- the place is only like 7 square blocks. But when lugging your suitcases along the tiny side walks or cobblestone streets, some places will seem further than others! You might opt for a taxi or catch the trolley instead of walking anyway.

Besides the Sheraton:

El Convento is a beautiful (but expensive) place. Really nice!

We know people who stayed at the Howard Johnson- Plaza de Armas- they liked it.

My cousin stayed at Da House- too noisy- she didn't get any sleep.

We walk by the Hotel Milano- looks ok for a night.

Hey! First time poster and cruiser (June 15th, 2008 with my new bride as of June 14, 2008). We are looking at staying two extra nights in san Juan, after our cruise is over. We are looking at the Sheraton Old San Juan. How close is it to the pier for Royal Caribbean cruises?

You are across from a pier, but it is NOT the one for RCCL:rolleyes: you would need to take a taxi ride to their pier. Probably about $10-$15, taxi fares are all set prices. The hotel is great if you want to explore around Old San Juan before your cruise. I have never stayed there only at the Marriott Stellar Resort, which I would highly recommend.

Thanks for the information! So nobody knows which Marriott my PVP was talking about? She just kept telling me it was called the Marriott Old San Juan, but I can't find any of them by that name!

there is no marriott in the historic district (there are 3 located in San Juan: Condado, Isla Verde, Miramar but none in the historic district or "Old san juan").

The 3 hotels in the district are:

1. Sheraton

2. El CONVENTO

3. Hotel Milano

So past cruisers...We are in PR for 1 night following our cruise. Do you recomend staying near the port or near the airport? Our ship docks 7am Sunday morning and our flight leaves 2:20 monday afternoon.

I can't seem to make a management decision

I was pretty sure our pier wasn't the one within walking distance of the Sheraton Old San Juan!

Are you just there for the day? If so, then you will be at either Pier 3 or Pier 4 which are across from the Sheraton Old San Juan.

Now, if your cruise is embarking/disembarking in San Juan, then you will be at the Pan Am Piers.
