Preferred seating -Stardust Theatre

I was reading a recent freestyle dailies from a Spirit cruise and saw something about "preferred seating" in the Stardust Theatre. This was something that had to be arranged with a bartender. Are parts of the theatre reserved for the people ordering drinks?

There were about 10 tables in the very front row (maybe 20-25 seats). You could reserve the seats in advance by agreeing to a minimum tab of $25 in drinks. As far as I recall, that was for your group, not per person.

A friend we met on board did this with us with a group of 7 for the 10:15 Second City show.

Aside from the Front Row tables, we also noticed a couple of the balcony boxes reserved for various shows (but not all).

We had preferred seating for a show last year on the Spirit. At the end of a show, we spoke to the waiter who had been serving that area of the theatre that night and we reserved one of the tables (for DH and I) for the next night. When we arrived, we found the wine that we had ordered already there on ice and the glasses ready on the table. Our waiter was very attentive to all of the people in the preferred seating area, constantly refilling glasses as needed and getting fresh drinks for those having cocktails. Our view of the stage was spectacular. In our opinion this was a fantastic deal for only $25...we were going to be sharing a bottle of wine anyway, and we had great theatre seats as a bonus! If we sail the Spirit again we'll be in the preferred area every night.

Yep, agree to certain $$ amount of expense. Most nights on our Spirit cruise, these seats were empty.

They are more than worth the money if you are there for the "Fountains" show. You have to see it to believe it.

On some ships, there are upper area seats reserved for Suites - not the mini suites.

There wasn't a Fountains show on the Spirit last week. :(

We saw it back in 2006 and it was great. I talked to Ray Carr about it (Ray is the Spirit's Cruise Director for the next couple months, he came from the POH).

He nixed the show due to noro risks with the crew. :(

here's a photo of the seats in quesitons. if you enter from the stage level, they are right there. they are the gold seats...tables there for drinks. at some shows, they had reserved signs.

on the upper levels, they have boxes seats...marked for VIPs.

yes, those seats are on the spirit...

you reserve them through the bar service..or at least that what i saw people doing.

the normal box seats for VIPs were entered through deck 8, nice boxed seats with good views.

went we went in for the crew talent show, the seats were all reserved..one for the captain. the bar servers watch over those seats and keep people (who haven't reserved) off.
