Firsttimescaredcruiser! Posted February 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2008 When you fill out the passport information on the Funpass what do you put as the city of issuance/authority? I don't see anything listed inside the passport. Did it mean where we went to get our passport? I had it done at the post office. Are they talking about the city the post office is in or the address on the mailing envelope? I'm feeling kinda stupid...so be kind....please. greenbbs Posted February 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2008 On your passport somewhere on the photo page, there will be a line that says issuing authority and it'll be something like Passport Agency Boston or something to that effect. Bunkie103 Posted February 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2008 When DH and I got our passports three years ago it told you the city of issuance. For instance his was issued by the Charleston Passport Authority. Now our DD just got her passport last month and tells me there is no city on it, but that is says "US Department of State", so that is exactly what I put on the fun pass. Firsttimescaredcruiser! Posted February 29, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted February 29, 2008 On the left hand side it says Authority(in three languages) then under it says United States Department of State USA (much larger) Could this be it?

bluefins Posted March 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2008 Oops! We used ours for the first time last year. For that cruise & this cruise coming up, I put the city where the post office we used was located. I didn't even think to look anywhere on the passport. On my last cruise, I put the state my passport was issued in. Worked fine...no problems.
sassy0930 Posted March 2, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2008 I doubt that the city of issuance is really a big deal. If the number is wrong or suspicious, they might need it to look up your info. The first time I put the city I got it in, this time I'm putting in US DEPT of State.

Here's the reply for anyone interested in knowing. Let me know how you figured it out because I'm still not sure I'm reading it right How To Determine Where The Passport Was Issued: Each issuing office has a two-digit number code that is unique to that facility. This code can be used to determine which office issued the passport. In order to find the place of issuance, look at the long row of numbers and letters at the bottom of the data page. The eighth and ninth digit places to the left of the less than (<) sign indicate the place of issuance. Here is a list of the issuing offices and their respective two-digit codes: Washington, D.C 01 Chicago 02 Los Angeles 03 Miami 04 San Francisco 05 Seattle 07 New Orleans 08,40 Philadelphia 09 Boston 10 New York 11 Honolulu 12 Houston 13 Connecticut 14 Colorado 17 National passport center 15, 20, 21, 22 Charleston passport center 30, 31 For further information, please refer to our website www.travel.state.gov or call (877) 487-2778, for TDD/TTY users 1-888-874-7793 (Mon-Fri 7am to midnight ET, excluding federal holidays).
