If you go to the P and O australia boards and search you will find a ton of information.

Vila is usually the cheapest place to buy duty free alcohol.

Most cruisers that go there recommend getting a private van which are always available at the pier and go on an island tour.

Cascade falls is wonderful but it can be a muddy hilly walk if you have older less active poeple with you.

You can also just get a taxi $3 PP into town and get the free ferry into irrikii island where you can go snorkelling etc.

There is also helicopter rides and jetskis etc.

The people are very friendly and the locals have a market right at the pier which is usually good timing to buy things for island night parties.

There is no beach right near the ship

Hi Sandra,

Vila was one of our favourite places on our cruise last year. We booked the cascades waterfalls but had to cancel due to the wife being hurt in an accident at the airport in Sydney (another story). We ended up going to Iririki Island for the day and had the best time. Full use of the pool, snorkelling and a buffet lunch with island band. All for the cost of just the lunch, $30.00 each. It is a really beatiful place.

I did the glass bottom boat and snorkelling tour in Vila. Was fabulous!!

The ekasup cultural village is fantastic too.

Actually, it is my favourite island..looks a little dirty but the natives are friendly and willing to help. Not as built up as Noumea.

As Karon said, jump onto the P&O Australia thread. We all go there on our cruises and you will get lots more response.

Vila is FANTASTIC :)

The cab drivers take Australian dollars.

You don't need Vanuatu money in Vila.

We liked Cascade Falls (hired a local taxi to take us up and back for about $AUD 90)

We also had a wonderful time at Ekasup cultural village. The tour is a lot of fun.

If you get a couple of hours in the middle of the day, catch the water taxi to Irririki Resort. It's free, and you can get a nice lunch in the restaurant on the beach. (Turn left, when you get of the water taxi, and walk 200 metres).

The sailaway out of Vila on the back deck is very pretty.
