Anyone Take A Wig?

Does anyone take a wig to wear in the evening for the formal dinners? My hair is so fine that after a day of being in the sun or just going shopping at the ports it is rather limp and I just don't feel like messing with it. I took two on the Mexican Riviera Cruise and they worked out great and our pictures turned out so nice. I'm debating on whether or not to take them on our Hawaiian Cruise!

If you were happy taking them along on your previous cruise, then what's the difference with taking them along this cruise? If you've got them with you, you've got the choice of whether or not you wear them. If you leave them at home, then the choice is whether or not to bother doing your hair each evening.

If you do decide to wear one, read this first: :D

I have used those pieces to put my hair up before. Then I started wearing my hairs shorter-so they no longer worked. I have let it grow out a little recently but I guess I would need a new one as my hair is lighter because I am covering the gray now- so they would still no longer work.

I guess I could buy a new one. I just haven't because it seems like everytime my hair is colored, it looks a little differant in shade.

Many years ago when I was a teen, wigs were "in" and people wore them as a fashion statetment. I had several wigs and "falls". So although I had shoulder length hair at the time, one day my hair would be very short and the next day half way down my back. What I remember about them was how hot they made my head and how much trouble the human hair ones were to keep them styled and how the artifical hair ones started to look tacky after a few wears.

The only one I have is a hair scrunchy that instead of being made from fabric it's made from hair. So you put your hair in a bun, either loose and messy or tight and neat, and then you pop the hair scrunchy over the bun and it just makes it look more full with some curls. For me caribbean days mean hair up off face, so to dress up my hair a bit and take a break from a plain pony tail or bun I like that scrunchy. I bought it at a local pharmacy and I love it for variety.

LOL, that would be funny. I secure mine pretty good and actually we usually go up to the casino after dinner. I'm getting it cut and styled on Friday so I guess I will know more then how easy it will be to maintain. When we went on the Riviera cruise, my hair and wig were the same length and same color. My hair is the same color but the length is shorter. I may just put one in there just in case. My husband is already complaining that I am taking too much, what's one more thing, lol.

The newer wigs are so lightweight you really don't know you are wearing them. I've only worn these wigs a few times when I dress up to go to dinner around the Holidays. Of course my friends know it is a wig, but anyone else cannot even tell I am wearing one, they are that natural looking.

So true!

There was a thread about a month ago on this and to be honest, before that, I had never given this a second thought,

I have a full head of nauturally curly hair that a lot people say is pretty.

HOWEVER, put it in the humid, windy conditions that the sea has to offer and you are asking for trouble! Not a good combo....

So, to be truthfully honest, when I read this thread on here about wigs last month.. I thought...now there is an idea!!;) More power to you!

They truly are so real looking if you invest in the right ones.

I say go for it!

You can have fun with it, cut down your time and be sassy fabulous at the same time!Who wants to fuss with unruly hair while on a cruise?

Have fun with it and feel empowered!

Use this time to go for it!

My only caution would be to make sure it IS fastened down securely, as the above poster jokingly pointed out.

Wouldn't that be awful?!

A good gust of wind and your new "doo" becomes a flying spaceship!

That is how I feel about it. Who wants to be all dressed up in their finest only to have hair that will not co-operate? My hair is very fine and does not keep a curl. I just got away from the perms and got it cut short. And that looks good for daytime but for a formal dinner, I think I would want something more fitting to the occasion. Oh, I will make sure it is pinned securely to my head. These new wigs have the mesh cap so it is very easy to put hairpins in them and actually I probably put more in then I need. What I love about it is that it is the same color as my hair. I think I am going to take at least one, just in case!

Absolutely!

It will give you the peace of mind knowing you won't have to worry about "bad hair" or it flopping on you!

I have seen the lace caps and yes it makes it very easy to pin them down.

I say, make it fun.It is like an accessory!

I had never really thought of these before, like I had said, but I think they are a great little asset!!

I was going to wear one for the time between coming back from an excurrsion and dinner time. We love alaska so you have hat hair when you get back to the ship, but don't wear that hat on the ship-to hot. I bought an inexpensive one and posted it here. I got even thoughts of wiggy looks and nice looks. I've sold that wig and will just wear a clip on for that time period, but I took my husband with me the next time and he picked one out more for dinner time. It's longer and more than I'm use to, but he really likes it. I'll bring it with me and wear it for the times that I just don't have time to do my hair. I have very fine hair and if I don't spray a crap load of hair spray on it, it will fall! I'm so tired of perming my hair so often, but need it! With all the curing iron, perming, hair drying and so on I'm just worried that I'll have no hair by the time I'm 50:eek: I don't want to look like my husband:rolleyes: If you've taken them before, there really isn't any reason not to bring them all the time!

Happy cruising, Pam

I already have my wig out and ready to put in suitcase when I start packing! I'm like you, I have to spray my hair so much just to make it hold a style for a few hours. I haven't even thought about Alaska yet but will probably do the same thing. Didn't even think about a hat either. But I have plenty of time to get one of those. As long as you don't stray from your hair color with the wigs, no one can tell you are wearing one imo.
