Creaking rooms on the Glory!

We had creaking on Fantasy. The 2nd cruise, I think. It was something with the bathroom wall rubbing against the ceiling. I think we folded up one of the capers and wedged it in there and it helped.

Yeah, with all the movement these ships endure week after week, I think it's only to be expected that there will be some noise.

Don't know why those lazy crew members cant run around and tighten all the bolts while the ship is in port! I mean, there can't be THAT many, can there?

:p

Wouldn't you want the ship to creak a little. Creaking is the sign of a flexable structure, rigid structures cannot accomadate for motion and break; and there is ALOT of motion on the ocean. Think about sky scrapers, same thing conceptually - they're vertical, ship's horizontal but the same principles apply I would think.

I'll take a week of a creaking balcony cabin to a week at work anytime! We will be on the Glory for the first time in May. Anybody been in room 7362? PVP says good location. Doing Eastern cruise, can't wait!

No, but I had 7367 which is straight across from 7362 and it was fine.

Except the air conditioning was not working right.

They brought me a fan.

It was broken.

Have fun!

I did, really!

We have experience this type of noise on a HAL ship, but it was coming from the overhead bunk that was stowed away. If I pushed on the ceiling where the bunk folded into, the noise went away. I steer clear of any room that sleeps 4 now. :D

The rooms we had the creaking in also had 2 upper berths which our kids were sleeping in, so this makes sense to me.:)

What a baby. I'll bet you're a snorer too. Your poor wife probably had it worse than you.

Where did that come from?

Sorry that you had creaking noises, that would be very annoying!

I have been on two Carnival ships and the Disney Wonder and never heard creaking on any of them. It sounds like you just had some bad luck in getting that cabin.

I think if I was on a skyscraper that was creaking I would probably jump off!!!! After hearing other people say that the berths were doing the creaking I agree. If youlike the sound of rats running back and forth all nite god blessyou. personally I probably should have complained while onboard instead of on the internet maybe they would have fixed it. Also the air conditioning didnt work also!!!

Make sure to bring earplugs!!!!!!!!

You may also want to consider bringing along a proton pack. :p :D

I've been to the Sears tower in Chicago and it was actually built to sway in strong winds!

I was on the Pride in Dec/Jan and only noticed some creaking (not at all bothersome or loud) in the hallways when the boat was a-rockin a bit on semi rough seas toward the end of the cruise. I looked at the ceiling in the hallway outside our cabin and noticed it was jointed(?) or seamed like a sidewalk every couple of feet to allow for movement. I've been on wooden boats and absolutely love the sound of creaking....no problem as long as i'm on Bonine!!:D

JK with the baby comment. Figured it was good for a laugh, but usually the first ones to complain about not sleeping are the ones keeping everyone else up.

GO HILLARY.

oh, c'mon. how bad can this be? seriously.

i have had creaking in my cabin. it never amounted to anything that we lost sleep over, and i certainly wldn't say that the ship is a hunk of junk. (that's actually laughable).

and those of you who claim you never had creaking on disney...i too was on disney, cldn't tell you if i had creaking or not, but i'm curious...were you on the nassau/castaway cay itinerary???

yes...i am asking if you were on the itinerary where you wld basically be SHELTERED by the islands of the bahamas for the entire cruise and therefore, have very little, if any, ship rocking (and thus, no creaking).

Carnival Spirit Class ships are the kings (err, Queens I guess...) of creaking. I heard it big time on both of my Spirit Class cruises.

Don't recall hearing much of it on the Destiny/Conquest Class ships... Our last cruise on Liberty was very rough and I don't remember any creaking, we were midship Deck 8.

:) We sailed on Glory in November on the Lido deck and it was wonderful. We are booked on room 7336 for Mother's Day Cruise. It is near elevators. Has anyone stayed in that room? How was noise from elevators and air conditioning?;) ;) ;)

I would have been a few doors down. we were in 7348.

no noise that i remember. I also slept like a baby. once i was out, i didnt hear a thing.

the only elevator that was quite a walk was the forward one. But I have to say, we used the middle or aft ones the most. well, actually -- we took the stairs, as they are faster .

We were in 7336 in February for the Eastern Caribbean route.

You cannot hear ANY elevator noise, it's simply too far away. I like deck 7, it's only two decks from Lido (can walk up), Only two decks from Promenade (you can walk back up at the end of the evening) and it has cabins above and below you (no scraping deck chairs, casino noise, lounge music, etc.) The laundry is directly across the ship from you, on the same level. There is a room with an ice maker directly across the hall from the cabin. If pax left the door to that room open, then you could hear the noise of the ice maker making and dropping loads of ice into it's bin, but only near the door of the cabin.

The only noise we heard were obnoxious drunk passengers on the balcony above ours.

Air conditioning worked, although it never got very cold. No other issues we found. All lavatory equipment worked, TV worked, didn't use the fridge, safe worked, telephone worked, lights worked, door worked (didn't try to bungee it open)

Our ONLY issue with the room is in it's design. I use a CPAP machine for breathing at night, and there is NO 110 electrical outlet on the bed side of the cabin. I'm glad I took a 12' long extension cord, because it was needed to run from the desk outlet across the room to the bed.

I'd book it again in a heartbeat. It's somewhat mid-ships and we didn't notice a lot of motion when seas got "brisk".

I've got a few pictures, send me a way to get them to you if you want them.
