Best Place to Snorkel

Greetings,

 

We are supposed to be in St Thomas on Nov 6, 2008 with one other ship currently scheduled to be in port. Our scheduled time in port is 7AM - 4PM. What are your suggestions of a good place to snorkel? I am more comfortable in the water than my husband is, so if you could suggest a place that would most likely be calm. Is a snorkel tour going to provide better results than snorkeling from shore on our own? I have heard about folks snorkeling with giant grouper in this area and think that would be very exciting.

The best snorkeling from the beach in St Thomas is at Secret Harbour. If there is only one other ship in port Coki and Sapphire Beach also have fairly good snorkeling. The best snorkeling we did was on our daysail on the Rumbaba at Christmas cove- great food and outstanding company

We went to Coki two weeks ago and the snorkeling was great. You can walk right out from the beach and see lots of fish. They also sell dog biscuits which you crumble and the fish swarm all around you. Loved the snorkeling!
