Help with Santo Domingo Hotel and Tours?

We are a large group (80 people) who are looking for a post cruise 2 night stay at a hotel in Santo Domingo. Could anyone please recommend a hotel. We would like to be close to the Colonial section. Also we would like to find a tour bus that could pick us up at the ship , take us on a 1/2 day tour of Santo domingo and deliver us to our hotel. Some of us would also like to go snorkeling, any suggestions? Thank you! Doris

We were a much smaller group (15 in total) and we did a 2 night pre-cruise stay at the Renaissance Jaragua and were quite happy with the price and the facilities. The concierge at the hotel arranged a tour from the hotel that took us to the first Cathedral built in the Americas (including a guided tour of the Cathedral), admission and tour of the Columbus Lighthouse, and a trip to the beach at Boca Chica. All in all we were gone from 10:30 am until nearly 5 pm and could have been gone even longer had we chosen to. I believe that the tour company's name was Via Terra but am not positive. The concierge called them and made the arrangements after we described what we wanted to do. The charge was $50 per person which, in our estimation, was quite reasonable.
