Experienced Diver Question......

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the scuba & snorkeling board but since this board gets more views........ well....... I thought I would ask it here as well. :o

My wife and I are going to buy the ScubaPro Crystal Vu mask. Do we want the Purge or Non-Purge model? We will be snorkeling exclusively.

After visiting our local dive shop we decided on this mask because of it's great panoramic viewing and it's sturdy construction.

Please Help Me....

Thanks in advance!!!!!! :D

The difference is it's just easier to clear your mask. That means you must still know how to purge water from your mask.

This is done by moving the mask upward and blowing out your nose to purge the water from your mask.

here's a link to your mask:

We prefer the non purge face masks. Have had both. We

were snorkelers until we got certified for scuba on a cruise

last year. Now we do both, but prefer and crave scuba.

My normal aches and pains seem to disappear when "down

there." Either facemask will work fine for just snorkeling.

Another vote for non-purge, but it's obvious it really is just personal preference. Maybe your dive shop would allow you to take both to a local pool (or maybe your dive shop has a connected pool) to test out both of them. Most good dive shops will, as equipment is such a personal thing and can make or break your dive/snorkel experience.
