SusieV Posted March 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2008 If you've recently played poker on a Celebrity cruise, please share your experience as to whether the table was electronic or if there was a live dealer. We're especially interested in Summit, Century, and Galaxy. I know that Constellation has an electronic table. I was told that as of December 2007 Mercury still has a live dealer. As of February 2007, Galaxy had a live dealer but this may have changed. Thanks!
BBfan316 Posted March 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Was on Galaxy 2-25......live dealer, no poker pro.
TC Cruiser Posted March 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Live dealer. I didn't play but a member of our group was there every night. I believe that he had do sign up in the morning to play in a tournament that started at a fixed time in the evening. But they also had sit and go play during the week as well. My friend played well enough to cover his entire sea pass and then some.

I'm trying to gather information fleetwide because I know that the ships are not all the same. Constellation for sure has an electronic table as of February 2008. We don't want to sail a ship that has one again because we were unable to get a cash game going at any time as a result. We don't play the tournaments- the blinds and levels make them a crapshoot. OnlyMe Posted March 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Summit had a live dealer in July 2007 - hopefully it will be the same again in two weeks or DH will be dissapointed.

Yahtic Posted March 12, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 12, 2008 I also do not like Poker Pro, it is hard to get a live cash game and you just lose something by not having a dealer. We have been able to get cash games going without the Casino by going to buffet area and getting a large table and playing there either with casino chips or for our own tournaments with a chip set we bring along. denb Posted April 3, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2008 .... in case anyone else has new information!Noticed you have February 2008 for Connie. We were on the 12/28/07 Constellation cruise and they had the PokerPro table then. It was in the casino wedged between the existing table games and the railing dividing it from the raised bar floor. Tight fit. There were cash games (and tournaments) every night and during the day when at sea. But, they were all no-limit by request. We liked the 2/4 limit PokerPro games on our previous Carnival Legend cruise better, when we played with 2003 WSOP Champion Chris Moneymaker's dad, Michael. Very nice guy. Thanks for the thread. We're hoping Millie still has live dealers in a couple of weeks. I'll report back.
SusieV Posted April 4, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted April 4, 2008 I personally hate the PokerPro tables and started this thread because my husband refuses to cruise on another ship that has one, since we spend so much time in the casino. I would find $2-$4 limit to be boring, especially on a ship. Talk about No Fold'em! We played $5-$10 limit on Galaxy and that was about the same! I would love a no limit cash game on our next sailing, $2-$4 NL or higher. Here is the updated list... still waiting to hear about a few ships. Constellation: electronic table as of February 2008 Millennium: live dealer as of January 2008 Summit: live dealer as of February 2008 Infinity: Century: Galaxy: live dealer as of February 2008 Mercury: live dealer as of December 2007
Rare Deeliteful Posted April 4, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Hi Susie I know you're asking about the Celebrity ships - I'm still trying to find out about the Century as I sail at the end of this month - but we played NL on the Legend last year as well as limit and they had a NL tournament too - great fun. Certainly helped pay my bar bill! Really hoping there will be a poker table on Century. Pat

SusieV Posted April 4, 2008 Author #16 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Not a big deal, but you still have Connie as Feb08 when, as I mentioned, it was actually Dec07. I was on Connie myself in February 2008 and saw the PokerPro table. I'm trying to post only the most updated information, and February of this year is more recent than December of last year. Hi Susie I know you're asking about the Celebrity ships - I'm still trying to find out about the Century as I sail at the end of this month - but we played NL on the Legend last year as well as limit and they had a NL tournament too - great fun. denb Posted April 4, 2008 #17 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Gotcha! I thought you were looking for when it was implemented. Unfortunately it's highly unlikely they'll go back to a live table once a PokerPro is installed. They have to sign a multi-year contract for them. I believe it's 3 years minimum. That's what Carnival's was. I'll let you know about Millie when I get back in a few weeks. We're hoping to not see a PokerPro table in the casino. That's alsways our first stop after boarding. SusieV Posted April 4, 2008 Author #18 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Denb, I understand... so unfortunately Constellation is no longer an option for us. It is a little heartening to see that so far that is the only ship where an online poker table has been verified. I thought other pax might be interested to know what kind of poker to expect on their cruise, so I'm trying to gather information for the whole fleet. Bfson Posted April 10, 2008 #23 Share Posted April 10, 2008 When we were on the Infinity in Oct/Nov 2007 for a 15 day Panama Canal cruise there were 4 tournaments. (My wife won two of those and took second place in the third!) Live dealer, $60 buy in, limited to 10 players. First place money was $300, second place was $
RVRoadie Posted April 10, 2008 #24 Share Posted April 10, 2008 The Century had a live dealer on the December 2007 transatlantic crossing. I played one tournament. Lasted less than an hour. I went out in fourth place on the last hand with blinds at 1,600/3,200, after starting with 1,500. Several of us got a cash game together late at night in one of the card rooms. That was more fun. SusieV Posted April 12, 2008 Author #25 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Updated list: Constellation: electronic table as of February 2008 Millennium: live dealer as of January 2008 Summit: live dealer as of February 2008 Infinity: live dealer as of November 2007 Century: live dealer as of December 2007 Galaxy: live dealer as of February 2008 Mercury: live dealer as of December 2007 I guess we just got very unlucky picking the only ship in the fleet with a PokerPro table! I hope to never see one again on a cruise ship.
