Abigail 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 My friends and I have just taken the Miracle to the Southern caribbean and for all 8 of us it was the worst ship we have been on. We asked other cruisers what their feeling was about the ship and it was the same as ours. Food was nothing special, Entertainment wasn't all that good, and service was ok at best. The casino was very smokey. We took a private tour on St Lucia and there was a cruise critic on our van and he said the same thing. I am sure he will write something as well about the ship. We have all been on the Spirit and it was wonderful so I am not beating up on all Carnival ships. However, we have decided not to ever take another Carnival cruise again. One night they had an entertainer that had appeard on MTV and other shows. He couldn't get anyone to laugh and kept walking around the stage trying to think of something funny. He kept turning his back to the audience. The best night of entertainment was the salute to the Beatles. There were very few slots for non smoking and by the 4 day it didn't make any difference. Our waitress Tanya was good but not as good as others we have had on other ships. We did have a problem with a noise in our room on day 5. Around 5:30am we could hear what sounded like scraping except it was constant. We couldn't get back to sleep. When we got back from breakfast it had stopped but we went to the Pursers desk to tell them about it. He asked if we had called when it happened and of course we hadn't. He said if it happened again to call while it is happening. The next night the same sound woke me up at 4:15am, so I called. They sent down housekeeping who said "yes you have a noise" and she would report it to the Pursers office. After an hour of the noise, I called the Pursers desk again and they told me it was a technical problem and they would have to send someone later to check on it because it was too early to call anyone. Of course they came in the afternoon after the noise had stopped. So nothing was settled. They did send us some chocolate covered strawberries. However, that did not make up for the lack of sleep. I was very disapointed in how they handled the situation. They did not seem concerned at all. So if you happen to stay on the Riveria Deck on the odd side of the ship, beware. And by the way all our friends heard the noise too. It just didn't wake them up like it did us.
Wennfred Posted March 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Did you find one thing that was good about your cruise? Fred
DGP1111 Posted March 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm sorry to read that one of my most favorite ships of all time did not offer you the same wonderful experience that it did me on an earlier sailing.
Bethwte Posted March 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm awfully sorry you had a bad experience. I hope though that you did find things to enjoy while on your cruise. Anyway, I hope maybe once you let the dust settle a bit you will decide maybe one day to try carnival again. As you said you did enjoy your Spirit cruise. Don't let one bad experience ruin the chance for a great on in the future.
Travel Angel Posted March 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2008 If you felt the cruise did not meet your expectations and had the problems you experienced, I certainly hope you filled out a guest comment card and would suggest writing a letter of disappointment to Guest Relations at Carnival and voice your concerns. momofzeke Posted March 10, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I loved the Miracle 2 years ago. I don't know what "the odd side of the ship" is, but we had 2 cabins on Riviera deck and they were very quiet ~ never heard a peep or a sound at all. Enjoy whatever the next cruiseline you sail on is.
ddunn Posted March 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I did the carnival Miracle in August of 2006, and loved it so much, I am going back, different Itinery april 7, 2008 counting down the days!!! Ltvscout Posted March 10, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I loved the Miracle 2 years ago. I don't know what "the odd side of the ship" is That would be the Starboard side. Odd numbers down that side, even on the Port. Any newbies reading this post need to take it with a grain of salt. When you see someone posting a "complaint" that is from a first time poster like this OP was, it's usually either A) A troll, or B) Someone that has a foul outlook on life and finds fault in everything and can never be pleased. I sailed on the Miracle in '06 and loved the ship.

Crusin Karen Posted March 10, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 10, 2008 OUCH This is the 2nd negative review I have heard about Miracle in so many days, after reading for the past year she was a *favorite* to a lot of cruisers. We LOVE Spirit ships. The CCL Spirit is our absolute FAVORITE ship. Wish we could take her home with us :D We are double stacked on the Miracle...

Sandi149 Posted March 10, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Sailed the Miracle in June and had a great time. I would sail that ship again in a heartbeat. Everything was wonderful. Sorry you had a bad cruise. I hope your next one will be better for you. :)
truecruiser Posted March 10, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 10, 2008 thank you for your first post. looking forward to this ship due to the many rave reviews it has received. perhaps, you'll have better luck next time ;)
Thirsty Cruiser Posted March 10, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 10, 2008 That is what you decided to save for your first post? Welcome to the boards? Miracle is one of the best in the fleet. It is probably a smart move to look at other cruise lines if you were disappointed in her.
KTeaRN Posted March 10, 2008 #18 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm not the most experienced CCer, but this absolutely rings of TROLL to me. 1) OP has "supposedly" sailed Carnival before and enjoyed it, but b/c they didn't like the Miracle, the will never sail Carnival again? Makes no sense. 2)"the odd side of the ship"? Who says that? How about "riviera deck in an odd numbered cabin 3)as PP mentioned, other people heard the noise but were not awakened by it? They were just up at 4:30 in the morning on a cruise??
gazingm42 Posted March 10, 2008 #19 Share Posted March 10, 2008 If it was so bad from the beginning why did you not take carnival up on the vacation guarantee in the 1st port of call?
Crusin Karen Posted March 10, 2008 #20 Share Posted March 10, 2008 **popping Popcorn**Store brand for myself, to save some $$ for future cruises. DH DEMANDS Orville Redenbacker-whatever his name is...so for cabin drinks, he gets store brand vodka and I get Grey Goose :D :p I do the shopping and just LOVE payback time lol. ;)
Firsttimescaredcruiser! Posted March 10, 2008 #21 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm sorry, I just don't understand. Let me just say I've only been on one cruise..but.... If you didn't enjoy yourself on this ship...but did on a previous ship, why would you never sail on the entire line of ships again. I can see discounting this one ship you didn't enjoy, but what about the one you liked??? Doesn't make sense to me.
Sherman Oaks Posted March 10, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 10, 2008 you should have ordered some 'troll be gone' from room service.
DreadPirateRobert Posted March 10, 2008 #23 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Sorry you had a bad experience. Hopefully you'll find what you're looking for on another cruise line. I am surprised that after having positive experiences with Carnival you'd let one bad trip set you off like this. Oh well, more room for others. 123traveller123 Posted March 10, 2008 #24 Share Posted March 10, 2008 To be honest, I can understand where the OP is coming from. My first Carnival Cruise was on the Elation and it was disappointing. It's terrible to go with such high expectations and not have the experience live up to it. You read the boards and hear all about the great reviews which I'm sure are well deserved and you expect a certain level of service and vacation. On Elation the food was nothing spectacular, i never went hungry but I wouldn't rave about it either, the entertainment was awful and a great diappointment so you make your own fun and the service was OK not outstanding. Of course I will sail Carnival again if it suits my travel needs but I have to say if I were to base Carnival on my Elation experience it would not be a great review and would certainly not recommend it. Oh and it was also a very smokey in the Casino too but I guess if you are allowed to smoke there you cant do much about it.
