Our Cruise on Carnival Miracle sucks

My friends and I have just taken the Miracle to the Southern caribbean and for all 8 of us it was the worst ship we have been on. We asked other cruisers what their feeling was about the ship and it was the same as ours.

Food was nothing special, Entertainment wasn't all that good, and service was ok at best. The casino was very smokey.

We took a private tour on St Lucia and there was a cruise critic on our van and he said the same thing. I am sure he will write something as well about the ship.

We have all been on the Spirit and it was wonderful so I am not beating up on all Carnival ships. However, we have decided not to ever take another Carnival cruise again.

One night they had an entertainer that had appeard on MTV and other shows. He couldn't get anyone to laugh and kept walking around the stage trying to think of something funny. He kept turning his back to the audience. The best night of entertainment was the salute to the

Beatles.

There were very few slots for non smoking and by the 4 day it didn't make any difference.

Our waitress Tanya was good but not as good as others we have had on other ships.

We did have a problem with a noise in our room on day 5. Around 5:30am we could hear what sounded like scraping except it was constant. We couldn't get back to sleep. When we got back from breakfast it had stopped but we went to the Pursers desk to tell them about it. He asked if we had called when it happened and of course we hadn't. He said if it happened again to call while it is happening. The next night the same sound woke me up at 4:15am, so I called. They sent down housekeeping who said "yes you have a noise" and she would report it to the Pursers office. After an hour of the noise, I called the Pursers desk again and they told me it was a technical problem and they would have to send someone later to check on it because it was too early to call anyone. Of course they came in the afternoon after the noise had stopped. So nothing was settled. They did send us some chocolate covered strawberries. However, that did not make up for the lack of sleep. I was very disapointed in how they handled the situation. They did not seem concerned at all. So if you happen to stay on the Riveria Deck on the odd side of the ship, beware. And by the way all our friends heard the noise too. It just didn't wake them up like it did us.

Funny, EVERYTIME I see a review that states EVERYBODY was complaining about EVERYTHING. It turns out that the reviewer is the ONLY one complaining. And they are ALWAYS complaining a great deal about NOTHING but their own terrible attitude.

Since they will not cruise Carnival again, they will have no reason to visit the Carnival Boards again. Good!

Good Post!

When i first posted about how terrible my (1st CCL) Victory cruise was, i was slammed..harshly. If i had a different personality, i would not have come back either. But i came back and responded to almost everything everyone put up.

I am a picky person, i know this. but i am not that picky and this cruise was a zero. I have been on 8 cruises and have found joy on all of them but this one.

Miracle in May is my second and i hoping carnival will prove that the Victory trip was just an enigma. I am so looking forward to it.

What happened on the Victory? Do you have a link to your previous post/review? Just interested...

Hey Sandi

It does not happen at another site i occassionally visit.. its just not tolerated.. albeit, that site does not have the traffic or the almost immediate reply CC provides for us.. its a very small community of cruisers.. they disagree.. but nothing like what happens here. Here we take the minor bad stuff along with the good... and most of all enjoy the chat of cruising..

Some people only have the balls to post what they post because they are hidden behind a computer.. in real life most of them would never act out that way for or resort to name calling and threats for fear of repercussions

I don't mean other web sites....I mean the other sections of THIS website....i.e. RCI, Princess, NCL....happens over there too, same like in here.

Yeah, I read some negative reviews. It was before our cruise on her last summer. We had been on her twice before and didn't have any problems. This cruise we were going with my DH's whole family, 24 of us and most were newbies and I was really upset "something happened" to Victory to make it awful. We had a good time but the weather stunk for the THIRD TIME. I don't like cruising to Canada! Sorry your cruise wasn't good. Maybe it was just the week we were on, but the food was the best we have ever had on any of our cruises. LOVE getting a seat at the bar at the casino and the "impromptu" disco they have there with the band playing. Our waiters were wonderful and we had a complete blast except for the dreaded FOG and misty rain and cold. THREE TIMES (forgive me if I repeat myself!) St. John and Halifax are very pretty and quaint. I am not putting Canada down-my maternal grandpa was born and raised in Quebec and I speak fluent French-but my ideal cruise is to a sunny island in the Caribbean. But the ship was great....

Yea, it's kind of, been there done that once and wouldn't do it again. The people are WONDERFUL. My parents have a lake home in the tiny town of Buckingham in Quebec and everywhere you go the people are so warm. But...you do that once and there is not much else to see a 2nd time (and especially a 3rd! ) I am a beach person anyway. Just did Victory because it cruised out of our back door from NY. Have never been to Toronto, but friends from lake house live there. I would love to cruise to Quebec City, but I'm not willing to pay $ just to go there and have to stop in St. John and/or Halifax. I want to swim and be on a beach and have a waiter bring me a foo foo drink while I am relaxing on a lounge chair looking out at the blue torqouise water ;) THAT is why we're going on the Miracle! :) (since someone asked what the subject of the thread was lol :D )

I haven't sailed the Miracle, but I am usually booked on the riviera deck.

I usually either hear wave noise or loads of noise when they dock. I am usually on the starboard side as well, and for some reason it seems that is the side they dock on.

I also think I can hear noises from below too, and on one cruise I heard them moving all the luggage the last night, but that was on Norwegian.

Sorry you had a bad cruise. I personally think that vacation is what you make of it anyway. There is always SOMETHING to complain about on a cruise or any vacation. Think about it, you are holed up with a huge amount of people in a relatively small area. Just enjoy yourself, it is all fun.

(PS that sentiment really works)

trock, you speak French too? (your signature) Also LOVE your cruise posters. I have to get me some...! I have 2 "cruise songs." They are both for when I GET OFF on the last day :( One is "Yesterday" (lst stanza) by the Beatles..."Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as tho they're here to stay, oh I believe in yesterday...." I go on cruises and I forget EVERYTHING. The bills, the house repairs, the body repairs (I always swear I'll get my cavities filled AFTER the cruise lol) the work piling up at my job...it all goes over my head. So when I get off the ship...Yesterday comes into my brain. Another song for anyone "old" enough to remember: Cara Mia...it's about a woman, but to me it's the ship: "Cara Mia why, must we say good bye. Each time we part my heart wants to die...Cara Mia fair, darling hear my prayer, I'll be your love til the end of time"...now, no matter the bs that creeps in during the week. No matter a fight with DH or an argument with friends over where to go, tough lobster, slow elevators, crappy weather, no ice in the bucket, noises in the middle of the night...to me, the whole cruise/ship is MAGICAL. It is a dream come true no matter how many I have been on. I realize how lucky I am, and when I get off, I look back at that ship, my home for so many days and all that stuff doesn't matter anymore...and I "sing" those songs in my mind, and I remember all the good times, the beauty of the ship, the sea, the sun rises and the sunsets, the stars and the moon shining like diamonds in the sky, the wake and little peaks of waves that just shimmer and are here one second and gone the next...THOSE are the things I remember. THOSE are the things I bring home with me and tuck in a special place in my heart while I am sitting at my desk at work, or doing laundry, or making dinner, or sitting in the dentists chair :( TREASURE the ship, TREASURE the cruise, realize how lucky you are that you are able to do this trip. Don't worry about all the other stuff. Just be happy and cherish each and every single minute. There are a lot of people who will never get the opportunity to go on a cruise. There are a lot of people who decided they don't even LIKE cruising. If you are one of the ones like me, one of the "I live for this" people, savor that, and don't let the bs creep in. :o

OMG...what years and what date? Used to catch Horizon or Zenith here in NY and cruise on down to Bermuda and have a Rum Swizzle! :D I've been to Bermuda so many times it is like going home. Zenith is still my DIL's favorite ship, even tho she is a balcony snob now. Go figure. Horizon was "the first time" and you never forget the first time lol. It was a PBA chartered cruise and DH was president of PBA. He HAD to go and PBA was paying for him. I was terrified. Couldn't figure out how they could get that big boat to float and I was terrified of bad weather, having "nothing to do" and of not seeing land and being in the middle of the ocean big gasp. DH and friends literally had to DRAG me onto that ship kicking and screaming. Well, we sailed out, past the Lady, I saw my lst sunset at sea the first night and the rest is history. Needless to say they had to drag me OFF the ship kicking and screaming lol. Took a few years off while the kids were little, then gave them a family cruise for Christmas and we haven't stopped since!

I didn't complain and make things miserable for them, I really enjoyed their company (they didn't even know my lobster was waaay undercooked and horrible),..

Did you eat the lobster, or leave most of it on your plate to be picked up and discarded?

If you left it on your plate, they probably noticed; and I'm surprised that they and/or your waiter didn't ask you why you didn't like it. Because you didn't 'complain about it' doesn't mean that your tablemates weren't aware of your displeasure..

It's rather ironic; one can post to the point of devoted fanaticism about their cruiseline of choice without comment; yet post an entirely negative review of a cruise (and don't think that because you've never had an entirely bad cruise that it doesn't happen) and suddenly it absolutely, positively, has to be a troll.

Yes, it's true that one should view such posts with a grain of salt...but then again, that also applies to posts containing personal endorsements of restaurants, beaches, etc.

The original review could have been a troll. However, they could also have been a person who just came off a really crummy cruise, and decided it wasn't worth it to return and defend themselves against an onslaught of 'troll' comments.

Speaking from personal experience, I posted a HUGE multi-thread, day-by-day account of my Voyager trip a few years back (it was lost when the board converted). I had a great cruise, but I also had some awful things happen on that cruise. A biggie was that I had a non-working toilet (as did most of my deck) for most of the cruise. I did post about this, however, I had so many other great things about the trip that even this wasn't enough to wreck my trip. However, if there had been enough bad things, they would have overshadowed the good leaving me with an entirely different view of my vacation. My review would not have been quite so complimentary of Voyager, and probably irked her loyalists and the RCI board.

Bad cruises DO happen, and to good people. The petty complainers aren't the only ones who make unflattering comments....there are those with valid complaints. They should not be discounted, any more than the person who says that 'X' ship is the best there ever is should be believed without question.

JMO of course :)

There are some negative reviews that go mostly unscathed on this board and some of the other cruiseline boards. But reviews that contain obviously untrue statements will always get chopped to ribbons. It only takes one falsehood to color an entire review, and there is no going back after a lie or over exaggeration. This review was unfair, unbalanced, and contained lies. How did you expect it to be received?

I've had a lifetime of absolutely great cruises. But never had a single one where there was not some problem that had to be ignored or lived with.

This OP condemned everything about their cruise and stated they will never cruise Carnival again. Is there some reason to care?

Yes, I left it on my plate to be discarded. No my tablemates didn't notice and mentioned so when I told them about it later.

No the waiter didn't ask why it was left. That is part (not all) of why I felt the service was not the best. On previous cruises, even if I left 1 bite, I would get a comment from the waiter, this one, most the lobster was left and no comments were made. That along with all 4 nights my order was never as I specified, there was never any ice tea brought to me, even when I requested it several times and my coffee (even when I requested it several times) was not brought. This is sub par service - even at a McDonald's. Why did 1/2 at the table get this kind of service and 1/2 didn't, I don't know. It could be personalities - who knows, who cares. I did a review from my opinion and didn't say good things about the service, doesn't mean from someone else's opinion it wasn't acceptable, just from my side it wasn't.

Cindy, I've been on 4 cruises and each one has been wonderful but I don't understand that "the worst day on a cruise is better than the best day" ... at wherever, work, home, land. When people state their air conditioning did not work, non-working toilets, lound noises in the cabin, nah, I'd rather be at work earning money than stuck in the middle of the ocean paying for a non-working toilet. You are right bad cruises happen to good people and that scares me. I work long and hard to be able to afford my vacation. But I guess I better not expect any sympathy from this board if my cruise goes bad.
