Playa Mazatlan Hotel or El Cid Marina Hotel

We'll be in Mazatlan for the day and would like to hear from anyone who has used either or both hotels for the day. Is there a day-use fee or can you just tip the towel guy and/or waiter? What are the facilities like? How far is each from the cruise terminal? We've been to the El Cid Castilla and would like to try something different. Thanks for any help!

I have not been there for a few years but from my memory Playa is less crowded than El Cid and therefore more relaxing. El Cid have a big pool but we did not get in as it look not that inviting. Could be we a bit nit picky when comparing it to pool in US hotels. Hope this help.
