Thanks for the fabulous photos! My boss will be on the Island in July doing a cruisetour and we will be on the Dawn in August doing a different cruisetour. Having been on the Dawn this past April, we already know we will love the cruise portion of the trip. How did you like the land portion? Where did you stay and what did you do? Any advice/recommendations?

cowtec we stayed at the McKinley Princess, Denali Princess, Fairbanks Princes and Copper River Princess lodges. Each of them had some very pretty points. If you are short on time you could miss fairbanks Long travel time and we did not have much time there so did not see much. Copper River was fantastic small not crowded.Many things to see and do nearby. The rooms at Denali were not as comfy but the park is not to be missed. Mckinley had some lovely grounds and views also. We really enjoyed the land tour but it is a lot of traveling. We would try and be more site specific and stay longer in fewer placer if we go back. Er, WHEN we go back.

Although it appears you had some rough seas!

 

Actually we had some wind one evening and the seas were calm most of the rest of the time. The last day we were at sea was when that pic was taken and you could not feel much movement on the ship. It looks much worse then it was.

Thanks for the info Fireplug! We will be doing Fairbanks, Denali, McKinley, and Kenai and can't wait. We have heard lots of negatives about the Denali Princess so we are hoping they get their act together before next August. Unfortunately we haven't heard too much about the other properties. Did you do the gold mine and riverboat in Fairbanks?

We liked the location alot. Even though the elevators were right out the door we did not hear much noise. the views fro the balcony were great. The only drawback really is the shower. WAY too small. You have to step out to change your mind. Other than that we loved the ship and the room!

Thanks Fireplug. I don't know whether to tell my DH ahead of time about the shower or not. I don't want him obsessing about it.

I will try I am not very good at doing them. HOWEVER Largin has been on the Coral multiple times He might be able to give even more info.
