Tarheelbelle Posted September 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2004 I cruise most often with my best friend---we have been friends 38 years! Thanksgiving is when we usually cruise, most often on Princess. We always fly in to the port a day early and stay at a nice hotel. We prepare by having our little items for the cabin [e.g. special drink napkins, candles, flowers] and purchasing any bar needs to take on board. The morning of the cruise we rearrange our luggage so we will have everything we need for the first few hours in the luggage we carry on ourselves. Then we arrive early at the port so as to maximize that first day on board. Booking massages, scoping out the ship, and arranging our cabin and balcony are first priorities. Then we settle on the balcony with a glass of champagne and call our other friends on our cell phones, with the statement they now expect first: "Just calling to see how the other half is living!!":o Of course, prior to arriving in the port city, we have had innumerable emails and phone calls about clothes, shoes, jewelry, shore excursions, and more!! This Thanksgiving we will be on the Coral Princess Panama Canal cruise. Less than 2 months and counting!!
lougee1043 Posted September 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2004 ---we have been [e.g. special drink napkins, candles, flowers] QUOTE] lit candles in a stateroom is a no no --the worst thing that can happen at sea is a fire --please do your share in preventing this by not lighting candles in the cabin
Tarheelbelle Posted September 26, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2004 The candles I refer to are the flat kind in their own tins that are stable and won't turn over. Mostly we use them on our balcony. Fire could be more of an issue with smokers who are lighting matches and lighters many times a day in their cabins. ruffsmom Posted September 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2004 We too are on the Coral Princess for Thanksgiving. Friends who are joining us are fellow tarheels. They live in New Bern. Please come over to the Princess Roll Call for our cruise and get to know some of your fellow cruisemates. We look forward to meeting you. Charlene Posted November 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 3, 2004 Tarheelbelle: "Two Wrongs, Don't Make it Right"!! Thats why so many of us fight to ban smoking on cruise ships, because of the "Fire Hazard"!! If Fire wasn't a hazard, then why did they stop the "Flaming Cherries Jublee" desert on all cruise ships!! mr green Posted November 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2004  I was told that Cherries Jubilees were stopped because of 9/11. If this is true then lets get rid of Baked Alaska!!! john taylor
