Getting cash onboard?

With your secured credit card on file with the Purser's office, are you able to get cash? We have never done this, but may want to pay tips in cash but do not want to bring loads of cash or traveler's checks. If not, I will make my way to the bank this week for those darn traveler's checks. Thanks!

You can get a cash advance against your onboard account, but as I understand it, you will have to pay a 3% fee. If you can get your traveler's checks for less, it may be worth it to make the trek to the bank. Or, depending on where you're going, you may be able to use your ATM card in port - but I wouldn't count on that unless I researched it ahead of time. There are no ATMs on HAL ships.

as mentioned, you can get cash from Front Desk folks or if in deluxe suite, Neptune lounge personnel. I strongly suggest you consider bringing a wad of low end denomination cash for sundry tips and other such uses - we find that works quite well.
