looking for a shore trip at ruins and beach

i am looking to do a shore trip to some ruins and have some time at a nice beach and could use some suggestions. looks like Tulum maybe to far to enjoy.

If you are looking for Ruins and beach, I think you should make Tulum your choice. I did this in '05 and didn't hang out with the tour guide for long. I did some photography and I made sure I hung out at the beach. I had a wonderful time. Here are some photos I took.

Thanx alot for your imput, your pics are great and it looks better than i though. I had read some negative comments about Tulum and it made me wonder. I think i will try Tulum

From what I have heard (again, HEARD, I haven't been there...) it seems to depend on how long your ship is going to be there. And if everyone in your party can handle/enjoy the long journey. I'd love to do it, but we are traveling with a little one that just wouldn't be able to handle such a long ferry/bus ride. Not to mention we wouldn't have time to see or do anything else. If it works for you, great! And bring back some pics for those of us that can't go!! :)
