trish99 Posted March 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Has anyone had good luck with just getting off the ship and hiring a cab driver to take you around for the day in St Marten? We've done that in other ports and they usually ended up being our favorite excursions. Any thoughts on price? Are they regulated? We're still deciding what to do here and think that this will be the day that we just want to "play by ear" so to speak. Thanks for the input. bradlkm Posted March 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Hi Trish, We did a taxi tour a couple of weeks ago in St. Maarten. We really had a good time. The taxi costs are completely set in St. Maarten, and there are large signs posted with the prices. Here is a link to pictures of the signs, graciously posted by gtaylor: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/gtaylor/Taxi/ Our tour (the City Tour) took us around the whole island and cost $35 per person (for four people). We asked for less time in Marigot for shopping and more time at Orient Beach, and the driver was very flexible. I guess the biggest drawback for this is that there are many different drivers out there, so not all will be as friendly as our driver. But it is, in my opinion, worth the risk!
