Booking another cruise while onboard

Can anyone explain to me how this works and what benefit it is to do so?

I was on Dawn in Dec. and stopped by the future cruise desk to enquire but I had a lot of trouble understanding the person behind the desk so I didn't do anything at that time. I will be on the Sun in August and I know I want to cruise to Western Car. in February of 2009. Should I wait and book while onboard the Sun in August or book now?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I really want to understand how this works as I plan on cruising at least twice a year on NCL and if I can save money I'll be thrilled!

Unless there is a particular cabin that you just HAVE to have, I'd wait until you are on the Sun. We took advantage of special offers twice, paid $500 for a future cruise and received a $550 credit toward that cruise. However, I believe those were special promotions. I'm sure someone else on this board will have more specifics. If you do not have the NCL/BoA credit card yet, you may want to consider getting one. We did a year ago, and we will have 2 coupons of $500 each for our November crossing. We just moved everything to that credit card. One of the 'Stickies' is all about the card.

As I recall, you don't have to book a specific cruise. You just pay $250.00/cabin and agree to book a cruise (any cruise) within 12 months and to sail within a specific period of time (1-2 years)? It really was a great deal. Plus, you get onboard credits for the cruise you are currently sailing.!

It's a pretty good deal. Make a $250 deposit towards a future NCL cruise and you'll receive a $100 onboard credit on the cruise that you're currently on. The future cruise needs to be booked within 12 months of the deposit and the sailing needs to be completed within 30 months of deposit.

This can be used with Casinos at Sea for future bookings with the 17% credit???

OK, here's my ROOKIE questions....

We'd probably love to do this on our cruise next week.

There will be 4 of us in two state rooms.

  • Is the deposit charge per couple or person?
  • How do they keep track of the deposits? By name, or Latitudes #, or something else?
  • How do you use it when you find a cruise you want to book?
  • Finally, are they transferrable (say we buy two but one couple decides not to go again with NCL...can they give the balance to me or another couple?)

Thanks in advance!

The deposit if per cabin. It is the only deposit required until final payment is due.

Both I believe.

  • How do you use it when you find a cruise you want to book?

You will get the paper saying you have bought the promotion. You can either book directly with NCL or a travel agent. Just tell them that you have the promotion.

Finally, are they transferrable (say we buy two but one couple decides not to go again with NCL...can they give the balance to me or another couple?)

Not exactly sure about this but do believe that you have 30 days to cancel. And if you cannot use it, you can sell it to someone else with a $50 transfer fee I believe. I'd go to the NCL website to confirm that for sure.

:)

Have fun!

Thank you!!!!!

I'll do this in August onboard. :)

I DO have the NCL credit card, use it for everything I can and pay off at the end of month! :D

The August, Sun, cruise with adult kids will be the only cruise that I absolutely HAD to have specific cabins. OS and 2 mini's next door.

Thanks again, everyone.:)
