search function down

Does anyone know when the search function will be running again? It hasn't been up every time I have checked in the past week. Is it permanently disabled? Any other suggestions to speed up my ability to find info from prior posts rather than re-asking the same questions I am sure others have already asked?

I've been using the 'search this forum' option, it works. It's over on the left.
