chrisbd1 Posted March 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2008 Because of someone else's past legal issues, I wanted to know about clearing customs in Victoria. Since past issues can bar entrance to Canada, I was wondering if anyone knows how immigrantion is handeled in Victoria. I've read that Victoria isn't as hard in relation to these issue as other Canadian entry points. Is this true?
Ephraim Posted March 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2008 You will go through Canada Customs at the first Canadian port after you have been in the US.

chrisbd1 Posted March 26, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted March 26, 2008 You will go through Canada Customs at the first Canadian port after you have been in the US. The first Canadian port is Victoria. There's an excursion going to the Yukon, while we're in Skagway also. The persons I'm refering to plead no contest to theft 12 years ago, no jail time-probation only. They got off probation 3 years ago. There were no other issues with the law for the past 12 years. Having just heard about this, they are now wondering about excursions that involve Canada. Ephraim Posted March 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2008 If you are in for the day on an escorted trip, there will likely be no trouble. In fact, you might be waved through considering that it's a cruise trip. The same might be true for Victoria since you are there for the day. If there is a problem, it's likely to be required to stay on the ship. But it happens quite seldom.

Here is a link that may help you but has the OP has mentioned and I have in other threads....the worst case scenario is that the person in question will not be allowed off the ship. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/conviction.asp
