we are going on a five day cruise to the w caribbean. we have a 3 year old, and will be paying for the after hours day care as well. What do you suggest will be an appropriate amount of money per person to bring on the boat? We were thinking 300 a person? what do you think?

Basic rule of thumb is to pack and then hit the ATM for cash. Then go home and take out half the clothes. Then go back to the ATM and take out twice the cash.

Seriously - I've found that you don't need a lot of cash on the cruise. A lot of singles & fives for tipping and a credit card for almost everything else. (Unless you plan on spending a lot of time in the casino.) Your $300 per person should be more than adequete.

Enjoy your cruise.

That depends on exactly what you mean.

We take minimal amounts of money. Just enough for tips, shopping and lunch in ports.

Now if youre asking if $300/pp is enough to spend. It just depends on your personal spending. Are you taking excursions into consideration for this amount of money? Are you drinkers? Gamblers? Will you be buying family portraits?
