Wineojim Posted March 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2008 Looking for nice reasonable hotel/motel for group of 18 in Feb 09 near port Thanks
cccole Posted March 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2008 Our favorite is the Hyatt Pier 66. We walk over the bridge to dinner at the Quater Deck, and the cab can stop at Walgreens and/or Total Wine for sun block and other items on the way to the ship. I think there is also an Embassy Suites in close proximity. The staff and pool area at the Hyatt make it a great way to start the cruise. Bunkie103 Posted March 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2008 Maybe you can get a group rate if you call the Holiday Inn Express. Randy was able to get a good rate for us last year and the hotel was quiet nice.
cruisinqt Posted March 31, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2008 You might also try "Lauderdale By The Sea". It's a really nice area that's modeled after KeyWest. Buildings cannot go over 4 stories and there's no neon signs, commercialized buildings, etc.:) It's very picturesque with most hotels being right by the ocean and it's not really pricey either. It's about a 20 minute drive from the airport. Being only one half mile wide and two miles long makes for a nice little city where everything is within walking distance from your hotel such as drug stores, grocery stores, etc. There are nice fine dining restaurants as well as quaint little shops. But if you don't like walking they have a free shuttle bus called the "Pelican Hopper." If you're using a rental car like we are because our flight is out of Miami but our cruise is out of Fort Lauderdale, it's well worth the short drive to check this place out. We're staying in an upgraded room with kitchenette (fridge, stove, etc.) for only $79 on a Saturday night at Shore Haven Resort (it gets 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5 at tripadvisor.com). Best Florida Resort and Blue Seas Courtyard are also very nice places to stay. ;)
abitaturbodog Posted March 31, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2008 Check out the East Coast Ports section here on CC. I used this site to find a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for my cruise this month. Lots of good advice.
