Flat booby Posted April 13, 2008 #32 Share Posted April 13, 2008 This will be our 1st ever cruise and going to the Caribbean on Ventura in Dec. the pictures you sent Steve were very good but I find myself a bit disappointed it looks a bit drab in places cheaply furnished, I expected better. the brochure pictures were much better than that but I find the real pictures you took are somewhat bland not that it is your fault its just the decor. Maybe I should have booked one of the Queens instead.
London Posted April 13, 2008 #33 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Hello Flat Booby (!) Definitely not drab or cheap - maybe my pictures don't do her justice. I'm on her tomorrow (Mon) so I'll see if I can improve my photo quality! Steve
Juden2307 Posted April 14, 2008 #34 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Hi Steve, Just a quick question re Cabin C749; do you have any more photos or even a review of the space in the cabin? We are in that cabin in October and I thought the bedroom area was not very big or was it just camera angles? Any information you can give would be gratefully received! :) Thanks
wakelover Posted April 21, 2008 #35 Share Posted April 21, 2008 Is your C deck cabin a balcony. If so I might be able to help as we were on the weekender and had an outside obstructed, a deck A and a deck C balcony. Just let me know - :D
Juden2307 Posted April 22, 2008 #36 Share Posted April 22, 2008 HI Wakelover, Our C cabin is one of the aft balcony suites:D , last cruise as a family thought we might as well go all out! Really just wanted an idea of space inside cabin and the balcony area, any info would be great.
wakelover Posted April 22, 2008 #37 Share Posted April 22, 2008 We have exterior photos of the aft balconies - (we havent published them on the site yet...they are next up hopefully - infact I'll move them up to "next"). I am sure you'll have a great cruise and a super view from the stern!:D (sorry I'm not allowed to print my webby on this site) I didnt see a suite but one of my members did so I'll ask her. She has photos of the mini suite I believe which we are yet to publish. I'll ask her what the suite was like and if it was an aft suite? Back soon...:D

forest_ Posted April 23, 2008 #39 Share Posted April 23, 2008 A word of warning to any one checking out the Wakelovers site good as it is. As I have yet to sail on Ventura I can not comment on the food. But have sailed many times on P&O ships and RCI Fred Olsen HAL and Cunard. The site as a strong bias towards RCI after sailing on Navigator of the seas last year the comments regarding Ventura food esp as it was not even the 1st cruise did make me smile. So here is my verdict of RCI's Food. RCI's food was poor at best as was agreed by many who tried that ship. The choice in the restaurant at lunch time was poor, and the evening meals really did not seem up to P&O or Cunard standards. I am not a fan of P&O versions but on the NOS the Woolies cafe:o with its plastic plates the size of tug boats was like lakeside shopping centre on a Saturday. If you are sailing on Ventura go with an open mind and enjoy.

wakelover Posted April 23, 2008 #41 Share Posted April 23, 2008 A word of warning to any one checking out the Wakelovers site good as it is. If you are sailing on Ventura go with an open mind and enjoy. Hi Forest Hope you are well I wouldnt say we are biased to RCI at all - we just commented on the food as we experienced it. It is all personal experience of course - but even fellow travellers said that there was less choice at the buffet - which there is. The portions we received on P&O were smaller - fact. The choice was not as wide - fact. Afternoon tea was the worst we had ever experienced (6 of us agreed) - the sandwiches were stale, there wasnt a single veggie option, tea was slow in coming - fact. But that isnt based on bias...just what we experienced. After all we'd hardly write a review on P&O if we were biased against the company!!!. We really liked Ventura - she is a lovely ship and I hope we have conveyed that in our report so far. We would sail on her again. The fact is in OUR opinion and based on our experience - the food was not as good. And whether its the first or last cruise they only have one chance to make an impression - and at the end of the day that is what these weekenders are all about - they hope you'll book a longer cruise. So I do stand by the fact that from MY experience P&O have not yet delivered food as good a quality, choice, presentation or taste as RCI....but that is just simply our opinion...and should be taken as such. That is the beauty of choice - we dont all have the same tastes!:D And this is also why we encourage others to share their views and experiences so that a fuller picture is given. :) As they say "each to their own"!!! Sparkle 123 Posted April 23, 2008 #42 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Hi I have sailed on Navigator of the seas and on P&Os Arcadia. I have to say that the one let down of the Arcadia was the buffet restaurant, it reminded me of a supermarket caff. Their choices were very poor in comparison to RCI. We will be on the Ventura next week and are very much looking forward to it and will go with an open mind. If the buffet restaurant is not too our liking I am sure there are plenty of other alternatives, we have never gone hungry on a cruise ship yet! Happy sailing:) Lisa
wakelover Posted April 23, 2008 #43 Share Posted April 23, 2008 we have never gone hungry on a cruise ship yet! Exactly - there is always something one can eat! Have a great cruise - I'm sure you will :D
Elaine0138 Posted April 23, 2008 #44 Share Posted April 23, 2008 I agee P&O need to sort out the buffet very limited choice at lunchtime compared to other lines. On Oceana last week, we got exactly the same plates in the Plaza as they have in the Windjammer on RCI and the Island Cafe on Celebrity.
forest_ Posted April 23, 2008 #45 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Wake lover hi, This was just a warning post if you are suggesting people to your site they should also hear the other peoples views. My view on the Navigator last year. The food was poor Fact and the lunch meals in the resturant were poor (the same every day) and many of the evening meals were not the best (Alternative eating returatns comprised of a fast food dinner and two average Italian and American stake House. And like you this is my opinion but it is also the opinion of others we meet on board. RCI have more of a holiday camp feel about it less of a cruise ship more like butlins but each to their own. Your review reads like you are comparing it to RCI which you obversioly were doing. Quote "P&O don't compare with RCI in their buffet or dining restaurant" This was not even the 1st cruise yet you slate the food which you are entitled to do, but i am pointing out the other peoples views on P&O food. I have cruised with RCI P&O fredolsen Cunard and HAL since 1980 and I found RCI food the worst of the lot. I am no P&O follower I just point out my experiance for others to read. "The food was nothing to write home about either. None of it was labelled so I asked the server what was in the pies. He looked at me blankly and said nothing. As we have "pot luck pies" from the butcher at home, I thought I'd have one anyway and see for myself. It turned out to be steak pie. I served myself some carrots which when I tasted them seemed to have been cooked in orange!!!!! (you're guess is as good as mine but they were horrible)."
