beer 6-pack in port

Hello,

I know what the alcohol policy is.

 

Sometimes in port I would buy a 6-pack of local brew and carry it on the ship in my backpack. I figured if they took it until the end of the cruise I would just bring it home with me. I've done this many times and it was never taken from me on boarding.

 

Anyone have experience with this lately?

A guy was in this long line behind us in Grand Cayman waiting to board the tenders. He left his family in line and ran to the liquor store at the pier bought a six pack of the local beer,(Stingray?) and proceeded to drink it while waiting to board. He first had to find someone with a bottleopener and the guy in front of us had those flip flop with the bottleopener on the sole. Luckly for him he got a free beer out of the deal! I lost track of the guy with the beer so I don't know what happened at the ship if they made him surrender the rest of the beer. But judging how fast he drank, He might not had any left:D Have a great trip.

I was just on the Jewel last week and while I didn't try and sneak anything on I think I could have. In nearly every port I brought back water bottles and Diet Cokes. They never opened my backpack once to actually see what was in the bottles I was bringing onboard.

The backpack isn't used for 'smuggling'. I carry it everywhere and anything I buy in port is carried back on the ship in it. They can see the cans on the xray whether it is in my backpack, paper bag, or plastic bag.

 

CaribeDiver, can I be a Beer Swabby?

Last year on the Rhapsody my water bottle was checked at every port.

 

Of course it was just water. :(

We have never had a problem bringing a 6 packs back in the backpacks at port. Run it through x-ray and sent on our way.

i always carry a backpack too. and i usually get a 6-pack onshore too. but i have never sailed rcl..my first is in may, hope the x-ray guys dont care either. seems like they arent gaining or losing anything..i just go on thru and take my stash to the cabin.. on san juan, i buy 1/2 pints of rum..wear shorts with big pockets and an aloha shirt hangin on the outside..just slip the bottles in my pockets and walk thru..and a handy 6 in my backpack. cindy
