parking in NY

I just got back from a cruise on the QM2 and parked at the Red Hook terminal. It could not have been easier.

First from South Jersey go over the Verrazano Bridge and follow the signs to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. The last exit before the tunnel you get off and follow the signs to the cruise terminal.

When you get to the terminal leave your luggage with the porters and then drive afew hundred feet to the parking lot. The parking lot has 24 hour security and plenty of spaces.

One last tip. at the end of the cruise, after you go through customs and have your luggage, have your parking receipt ready and right before you go through the exit doors at the terminal, on the right side are machines that you can use to pay for your parking. It is a lot easier to pay here rather than outside at theparking lot...especially if it is raining.

Make sure you give yourself enough time to arrive and not be rushed. We arrived at noon and on the QM2 they were already allowing the new guests on the ship.
