Sandy Sails Posted April 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I was in Grand Turk last week and LOVED it! It's basically just a relaxing at-the-beach day, with plenty of food and drink available, with a little shopping too. We laid on the beach in front of Margaritaville, spent $13 on 2 beers, watched somebody else spend $23 on 2 margaritas. Decided to find something cheaper. When it was time for lunch, we walked right next door to this new beach restaurant called Big Daddy's. It's a round little building with tables & chairs outside and inside. It doesn't open until 11:30 and there is no sign on it yet. But you can't miss it because it's just right next door to where the beach "ends" (there's an intimidating sign from the cruise line that says if you go past this point, they are not responsible for anything that happens). The food is great and much better priced than Margaritaville. The beers were $4, the margaritas were about $8. They serve burgers, salads, conch fritters, etc.

I know that the Turks and Caicos are known for their conch dishes so i have been looking for a place that was recommended. Life is good when you have a margarita in one hand and you're relaxing in the warm sun trying to forget this winter!!

m steve Posted April 7, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2008 I wonder how much Margaritaville kicks back to Carnival to have them put up a sign like that?

B40 Tha Cruisa Posted April 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2008 I love places like this. Margaritaville is great too, but I agree is is far too expensive. Good for Jimmy though, people are willing to pay. For me, you cant beat a bar with a little local flavor where you can learn a little bit about the island. We just got back last night from the 4-day Caribbean Princess cruise. This place was great...food was great and drinks were great...and all reasonably priced. If you go down the beach...just before the cement pier...there is a small place called Jack's Shack. You have to check this place out too. It is owned by the man who was the project manager for the cruise center that Carnival built. He loved the island so much, he decided to stay. Ask him to make you a rum punch. As the poster said, don't let the sign intimidate you as you are leaving Margaritaville....just keep walking down the beach and you will find both places. CruisingYiayia Posted May 3, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 3, 2008 Is Big Daddy the same place as Jacks Shack? No. Big Daddy's is next door to Margaritaville. Jack's Shack is down the beach...about a 5 minute walk from Big Daddy's.

neverleavingthebalcony Posted July 4, 2008 #15 Share Posted July 4, 2008 why not try all three places, start at the farthest point and make your way back to the ship :D never hurts to compare and contrast different establishments, of course Jimmy Buffets is going to be more expensive, once the other places become popular their drink prices will jump
