pmfan Posted April 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2008 Flashlight. Never go without it. Imagine how dark a ship could be at night if electric goes out. Luckly I have never needed it.
Willie T Posted April 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2008 Yep, me too. Always take a stupid flashlight, just in case. Like if I really needed it, I would be clear headed enough to find it. The other thing is a book. Come on! I'll sit and read when I get home, if I'am cruising, I'am doing. But....will probably keep bring one. Just in case. barbarah33 Posted April 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2008 I always bring not just one, but two books which I never really read on the ship. (Sometimes I do on the plane.) And I bring a hat which I never seem to use because I never remember to bring it with me. But, after over 30 cruises I still pack them each and every time. pengu1n Posted May 10, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2008 The duct tape! I know one day I'll need it!;) Also, as someone else said, a hat. I really hate wearing hats, yet I always pack one just in case the hat police come checking.
jules815 Posted May 15, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2008 Too many clothes.Too much jewelry. Too many shoes. Me too! I swore I wasn't going to bring as many shoes this time, but I just bought two really cute pairs of sandals, and I still want to bring my favorite comfy, casual black sandals. jules815 Posted May 15, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 15, 2008 Good idea with the flash light -- you never know, and that would come in handy. I'll have to add that to my growing list. One thing I did buy last year, and was really happy I did, is a travel clock. Didn't have one our first year we sailed, and I was squinting in bed to read my watch or the little clock on the phone. The one I got is from Brookstone, has large digital numbers, and has a really bright backlight feature that lights up when you tap it. Also has day/date and temp. I keep it on my nightstand here at home and have used it year round. It's a great little clock.

I saw one with us on the Paradise many years ago. Was a very good dog, I got to visit with him (off the job).

Wow....that's a first! I would end up bringing too many puzzle books and books to read, only to have not bothered to do them!

DBKK Posted October 5, 2008 #16 Share Posted October 5, 2008 Ziplock bags - never know when one might come in handy; extra bag (folded duffle) for the items that accumulate when traveling.

MattsCruisingDad Posted October 11, 2008 #18 Share Posted October 11, 2008 we bring zip lock bags and a cooler so we can take food to the beach w/ us. also walkie talkies- that way we can keep in touch w/ out our cell phones. the clock is also a good idea for those early morning docking. we also pack extra bottles of water, buy it on shore its cheeper than the bottles in your room. on our first cruise we met a lady who used her whole puch and punched our s/s cards and told us to get lanyards. it was the best tip of our travel. we wear our keys, s/s and soda cards on them. You can leave3 the hole punch at home ..... go to the casino on your first day and ask for a lanyard..... they're free..... and they'll punch a hole in your S&S card for you. Do walkie talkies work anywhere on the ship or do you just use them for shore excursions. We go with another couple and I know last time we spent a lot of time checking out the spots all over the ship that they may be if we had not pre-planned our meeting place .
