Info on Cabo San Lucas whale watching by Zodiac for kids?

My family of four (two adults, two children 17 and 8) are going on RCCL's Vision of the Seas on March 27th, and we really want to whale watch via the Zodiac rafts. We've actually taken a Zodiac one other time (in Hawaii) on a snorkeling trip, and loved it. The problem is, they are stating on RCCL's website that the minimum age for their excursion via Zodiac raft is 11 years old. Does anyone have any advice about this? Can I book it on my own. I do know also that we are only in Cabo from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and must tender to shore. The actual date we will be in Cabo is March 29th. The whales should still be there, right? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cheryl
