kmavb Posted April 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Confused as to the meal options for lunch on the day of embarkation on NCL sun. I think our ship will depart at 5pm. So I'm wanting to board the ship early...and relax with a nice meal. Will one of the main dining rooms be open for lunch...or will the buffet only be open? Does anyone know? I'd prefer a main dining room.
Ms belp Posted April 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2008 The main dining room may be available; but, you are already setting yourself up to be disappointed if it isn't. The buffet is good and you can relax there too. Take your plate outside and enjoy!
Globaliser Posted April 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Will one of the main dining rooms be open for lunch...or will the buffet only be open? Does anyone know? I'd prefer a main dining room.I've always known one of the main dining rooms to be open. But personal experience and the reported experience of others is that (for some unknown reason) the staff there do their utmost to try to persuade you that you'd prefer the buffet. But the dining room is open, and it's a great place to have lunch on that first day - as, indeed, on any other day.
Carnac767 Posted April 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2008 In my "vast" experience with NCL--all of two cruises--we ate lunch in the main dining on embarkation both times. It was not a problem and we never encountered any staff members trying to steer us away.
kackeroo Posted April 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Here is the dining schedule from 3/29 Freestyle Daily on the Sun. Shows the dining options. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j287/kackeroo/Sun%20Dailys/IMG_0003.jpg
lgfromdg Posted April 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2008 The buffet is open at noon and 7 Seas opens at 12:30. We went to 7 Seas and had a wonderful, relaxing lunch.
ChBoxers800 Posted April 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Yup, as others have said, the Seven Seas will be open for lunch on embarkation day. There will be lots of employee's around, helping to guide people around the ship. If they direct you to the buffet, just smile and tell them you are dining in the Seven Seas instead...they will have no problem with it.
flashdog_1 Posted April 6, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Did I read here, though, that lunch on embarkation day in the dining room is not like the rest of the week: just sandwiches and maybe soup? Or is that what they offer the rest of the week, too?
CruisnGram Posted April 6, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Not true. I can't remember exact choices but it was full service...appetizer, soup, full meal, etc.
Ask4Jay Posted April 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2008 kmavb - I highly recommend the outside serving station of the buffet aft on the fantail. Walk around the bar and take your food up one level. There are a couple of tables under the awning, our favorite place on the Sun.
marysb Posted April 7, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2008 The 7 Seas opens at 12:30 and there is full service. We had the tilapia...very good. the restaurant was very quiet. A nice place to go after the hustle and bustle of embarking.
