Passover on the BOS (April 14, 2008)

Please advise me if there is a possibility to celebrate the Passover while we are at sea.

Have not sailed recently during Passover but years ago a Passover “style” menu was available. Brisket, Matzo Ball Soup. Etc. We only overlapped one night so I don’t know of this was the case every evening or if the selection changed each evening.

 

If don’t recall if any formal was Seder offered.

On our passover sailing there was a service and passover style food. We also had a chunuka service last Dec on Monarch with a rabbi and then latkas.

We’ve gone to few Shabbat services and enjoyed them. They have generally been in a conference room and were led by a fellow passenger. The ones we have attended used the (blue) Reform prayer books. The cruise line provided some bread and kosher wine.

My parents got into cruising 30 years ago when my dad got to be the chaplain (he was a Hillel director before he retired). He was able to bring my mom at half price and they got what were the worst cabins at the time - up high. They had a lot of stories to tell - lots more involved than just holding services. Mom continues to cruise even though Dad's been gone 10 years. She's going on the Maasdam the same time we're on the Explorer - says RCI is too exciting for her!

I don't, so I don't know what all is happening with the folks more observant then myself.

yes, Sabbath services are scheduled on all ships. Usually wine, challah and cookies are served. We met lots of folks by going the first Friday night.
