Rickey 88 Posted April 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Major merchants, most cab drivers, etc. will accept Euros, but not everyone. Just to be on the safe side, purchase some Turkish lira notes, and ask which currency they would prefer.....
tak2 Posted April 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2008 We were ther Nov. I had Turkish Lir. and didn't pay attention whether other currencies were accepted, but did loan local currency for travelling friend which probably meant Euros/USD encountered difficulties. KIWP Posted April 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2008 Turkish Lira is your best bet with perhaps some merchants acepting Euros. Due to the fall of the US$ most are quite nervous about accepting them.
Mexfolkart Posted April 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2008 We went to our bank and had them order both Euros and some Turkish Lira for us...we received a tiny package back..I was surprised at how few we are now getting when you actually have it in your hands. I heard that we need the Turkish Lira for Taxis etc in Turkey.. S.
