Hi Rick - They are going to cut her in half and make her half as big!!! Sorry - I don't know what they are going to do but we felt like she was in great shape when we were on her in Feb. I was looking for things to be wrong and couldn't find anything. In fact, we saw them replacing carpet in a couple of different places during the cruise. I hope you enjoy her as much as we did - even though I know your table mates won't be as much fun as the ones that you had on Explorer!

THEY WERE JUST KIDDING. THEY WON'T CUT THE SHIP IN HALF. THEY WILL JUST FRESHEN THE SHIP UP A LITTLE BIT TO KEEP IT JUST LIKE NEW.

I can attest to jean's comments. The Voyager pretty much had all new carpets for my March cruise. She was in excellent shape and the only place I could see aging, and mind you this is for the really picky people out there, was when I looked up from my balcony there was a lot of rust under the railings for the other balcony's. There have been some that have claimed otherwise but I felt that I might as well have been on the Mariner or Navigator. Didn't feel like a 4 year old to me. One recommendation to RCCL though, if you are going to name a bar the aquarium bar. Please try to keep some fish in the tanks. Me and my friends had to laugh because the only time we saw a fish, yes thats right one fish, was when we were waiting to disembark in Miami. Enjoy the Voyager, Im sure she will be even more beautiful, if possible, after the drydock. Happy Sailings!

We cruised on the VOS two weeks ago and it was really in a good condition. We too saw the crew replacing some carpets. It looks like new. And I agree, that we too laughed at the Aquarium bar...it's hard to find a fish

We just got off the Voyager and agree that it really looked to be in great shape. Crew did replace some carpeting while we were on board. Did the Voyager not quite a year ago and the Aquarium had lots of fish and lights. I think the Aquarium needs some work.

They did announce that the Grandeur and Nordic Empress were going to be cut in half and lengthened. The Nordic was to be renamed Empress of the Seas.

Wow didn't know the Empress was going to be lengthened. Thats great she wont be the small fry pulling into port anymore. Also when is the Grandeur going into drydock?

Whoa, Back the ship up....in regards to the Empress...Its not getting cut in half and lengthened, they are just expanding some of the areas on the ship, not the entire thing...It would take more than the short amount of time (2-3 weeks) that its gonna be in dry dock to do a major thing like that.

On the Voyager last week and was EXTREMELY disappointed in the condition of the ship. Threadbare carpets on deck 9, rips in the walls in our kids cabin, stains all over the beadspread in our cabin and the mold in the shower was awful. We asked for a new shower curtain and was told it could not be replaced. So the just washed it for us. The deck chairs were rusty with slats missing from them, etc. I thought the dining room and most of the bars were in great shape though. Truly the dirtiest ship and most run down I've ever been on. Much disappointment there.

I did find out a bit about drydock. They are re-doing EVERYTHING. New color scheme, everything scrubbed or replaced. The crew will have the option of staying and helping or going home. Our waiter for example was from India and he said that he will stay because it isn't worth the expense or distance to travel for 10 days. He did make a funny comment though.....seems like the crew will get to enjoy sleeping in all the suites and passenger areas. There is no heat or air conditioning most of the time in drydock, so they truly can't sleep in crew quarters. He's been through 4 drydocks before and sometimes they will even just sleep on deck. but they do open up the whole ship to the crew while they are in drydock. I found that rather amusing.
