susiefay Posted April 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Going on a 4 day out of NY in June. Any thoughts on best time to get to pier? Thanks....
belle907 Posted April 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Before the ship sails. Sorry, had to say that. I am planning on being there around 10:00 or so. I hope that's not too early. I don't mind waiting around the port to board. I'd rather be waiting there than stuck in traffic on the NJ Turnpike.
nybumpkin Posted April 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2008 I'd recommend around 11:00-11:30. They may still be disembarking passengers from the previous cruise at 10. (We disembarked once in NYC at 10:30.) Also, if it's a weekday, you want to avoid rush hour - although I do agree that waiting at the pier is a lot better than waiting on the NJTP! When you board, your cabins won't be ready until 1:30, but the Lido deck buffet will be open for lunch.

We can always hang out at Penn Station for a little bit before grabbing a taxi up to the port since we'll probably get to the city about 8:00-8:30. On Jun 10 there will be 2 ships in port, the Victory and the Miracle, just to add to the traffic and confusion.
susiefay Posted April 13, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Thanks for the info. We will be staying in brooklyn the night before, and leaving on thursday june 19, so i guess it is just a matter of allowing for weekday traffic, which is always a nightmare in the city:eek: Happy sailing all..........susan
