Rockee4055 Posted May 13, 2008 #103 Share Posted May 13, 2008 We returned home late last night. Today I'm facing four suitcases to unload and a pile of dirty laundry. It's 1:30 p.m. and I'm still depressed and in my pajamas! I've already been online checking prices for the fall of 2009. I am sooooooooooooooooooooo addicted. Anyway, I'm currently uploading 500+ photos and I promise a detailed review and lots of photos SOON! I'll leave you with this - it was a perfect week, with AWESOME weather. We couldn't have asked for more! Hey patty, we were on the ship with you!!! Did you hear about the lost boy? That was one of the families in our group. Hope you had a great cruise. Looking forward to your pictures to see if I'm in any of them...LOL:rolleyes:
Rockee4055 Posted May 13, 2008 #104 Share Posted May 13, 2008 Sunday, April 6th was our first full day at sea. My friend Gena and I were up early and on deck by 7:30 a.m. The "chair hogs" were already out in full force. I will tell you now that this was the "norm" for the week and I will not go into detail each Sea Day. Gena and I would get our seats, she would run on the track and I'd relax with a cup of coffee and my book. http://inlinethumb53.webshots.com/40308/2816966170030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Except for slipping out for meals, our chairs were in use from 7:30 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. If our husbands found their way out of the shade, they would sit on the foot of our lounger. Gena and I each saved one additional lounger for our friends who joined us around 8:30 a.m. I did notice several mornings that already at 7:30 there were groups of six and more chairs covered with towels, books, shoes, etc. Those chairs were never in use until at least 10:00. I think people set their alarm, got up, took their items to the Lido Deck, marked their spots and went back to bed. The Carnival Caper states that no lounge chair should be "held" for more than 30 minutes. Trust me, this was never enforced. OK - enough about the "chair hogs". Our "norm" for the sea days was to have room service bring us coffee and bagels and fruit at 7:00 a.m. and then I was off to Lido Deck. My husband usually found his way out there around 10:00 a.m. The sun was bright and the sea was calm - it was a perfect day. Here's my brother and sister-in-law soaking up the sun. http://inlinethumb57.webshots.com/41976/2658855140030311051S500x500Q85.jpg ...and my brother "checking out" the Lido Deck from above. http://inlinethumb56.webshots.com/19447/2343212650030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Sunday afternoon's entertainment on the Lido Deck consist of the Ice Carving Demonstration and the Hairy Chest Contest. My sister-in-law and I along with another lady were chosen as the judges for the Hairy Chest Contest - which is always a real crowd pleaser!! http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/12686/2525207790030311051S500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/25600/2824274010030311051S500x500Q85.jpg By late afternoon, we made our way to our room to get showered and ready for the Captain's Cocktail Reception and our 1st Formal Night. All of the lounges offer the reception, but if you want to meet the Captain and his Officers, you must attend the reception in the Ebony Lounge. http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/41430/2389454240030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Our Captain was from Italy and he announced that the only member of his staff that was an American was our Cruise Director - Ryan Fitzgerald from the GREAT STATE of INDIANA. Of course, we had 12 Hoosiers at our table and we were cheering very loudly for Ryan - who put on quite a show and had the crowd going. After the introductions were completed, he made his way over to our table and visited with his fellow Hoosiers for a few minutes. A very nice guy!!! After the reception, we made our way to the Ivory Lounge for cigars and martinis before our 8:00 dinner in the Platinum Dining Room. Tonight's menu included lobster and it was "oh so yummy". Oh, and this was the night that my husband discovered the chocolate melting cake - which I think he had every night from then on. http://inlinethumb03.webshots.com/39234/2016878460030311051S500x500Q85.jpg After dinner, we changed into comfy clothes and made our way to the piano bar. This was a lot of fun!!! The piano player informed us that there were 4 songs we would NEVER hear him play. Number 4: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Number 3: Gilligan's Island. Nubmer 2: The Love Boat. And Number 1 - Anything by Celine Dion. He told us that ALL of the musicians went down with the Titanic - but that would NOT happen to him. He'd ride that thing (the grand piano) with a paddle all the way back to Florida. So, after a very long day - it was time for a good night's sleep in preparation for a fun day in Cozumel. This little fellow greeted us upon returning to our room.... http://inlinethumb56.webshots.com/24823/2824396110030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Next installment - Cozumel, Jewelry Shopping, Senor Frogs, Fury Catamaran/Beach Break. We must have been standing right noext to each other during the ice carving!!!! I have that exact same picture with the video camera in there and all.
