MEcruzr Posted April 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2008 When I'm in Portland (and I'm FROM Portland) I go to DiMillo's for fried clams. Their lobster is also considered the best by my friends and family... especially the baked stuffed lobster. If you like crab, get the Kenny Crab Cakes (my favorite thing on the menu). Here's a link to their dinner menu: http://www.dimillos.com/restaurant/menus/dinner.html From there you can learn about the restaurant. It's an easy walk from the cruise ship pier, too... when you get off and out on the street take a left. It's about three piers over. You'll quickly be able to see the big sign that's out on the street. You'll have to walk across a big parking lot to get to the restaurant on the end of the pier.. as this restaurant is on a boat! Hope this helps
cruisetmc Posted April 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2008 We ate at Allisons. Pretty blue building right on the main street a little past the bridge.

Sue (mom of 3 boys!) Posted April 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2008 Our favorite for lobster rolls in Bar Harbor is the Docksider. We're usually camping or hiking, so its casual atmosphere suits us well. Then we take a walk along the marina. I think it's on Sea Street... SailBadtheSinner Posted April 26, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2008 I might be splitting hairs, but the Docksider Restaurant is located in Northeast Harbor, about 20 miles from Bar Harbor. Check it out here: http://www.hiddenboston.com/Docksider.html If you arrived at Bar Harbor on a cruise ship, you'll have to take the Island Explorer (free shuttle service) to go there and return. You would take a bus for route 5 (Jordon Pond) or you could take a bus for route 6. Here is the schedule for route 5: http://www.exploreacadia.com/route5.htm If you take the route 5 bus, you'll be in the double bonus because you can stop at the Jordon Pond House Restaurant and have their out-of-this world popovers and strawberry jam for a dessert. My mouth waters just writing about it :D. Here's the link for JPHR: http://www.jordanpond.com/ Of course, you may not want to travel far from BH; I've always had a good meal at West Street Cafe http://www.weststreetcafe.com/ Have their blue berry pie; you won't be disappointed. If you are still after a Maine lobster, there is a lobster pound in BH - http://www.stewmanslobsterpound.com/default.asp I have no experience with Stewmans Lobster Pound; just wanted you to know that it is there Both WSC & SLP are on the first street (West St) you step on when leaving the tender dock and within a quarter mile of it. Enjoy your cruise! SBtS

It looks like a hole in the wall, but it's really good. I got the name mixed up (and I was so proud I remembered the address, LOL) My apologies, and thanks for the correction. I stand corrected.:o
sopo pirates Posted July 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2008 Other lobster options are Portland: All on Commercial Street: Portland Lobster Company, DryDock, Gilbert's Chowder House, J's Oyster, DiMillo's. Kennebunkport: Allison's, Hurricane, Bartley's, Pilot House, Federal Jack's (it's a brew pub so if you want local beer also, go here).
mobyduck Posted July 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2008 This may be a stupid question but what is a lobster pound? When I looked at the website posted it looked like a restaurant? Is there a difference?

Is there a difference? In general a lobster pound sell lobsters - live or cooked and can even ship them for you. There are some however, that will be restaurants such as the one in Portland. Hope this helps...
