Wind Surf October 31

Canadiens

Recommended Posts

Canadiens, We are on the 10/31 cruise as well! Glad to see another CC member is joining us. We are neither "experts" on cruising nor on the Med but we will try to help. This will be our second cruise and first on Windstar.

We are planning on temperatures in the mid 60's during the day and mid 40's to low 50's at night. This is based upon historical averages we've looked up for our ports of call. Of course, who knows what type of weather we will end up having. Based upon other posts we have read on the boards over the last several months, we have learned that it can be rainy during the Fall in the Med so bring some rain gear with you just in case. It seems the key is bringing clothing that is not necessarily heavy, but can be layered to adjust to the warmer or cooler temps. The nice thing about Windstar is "casual elegance" so no suit/tie or formal wear is required. If you do plan to go into the casino during our Monte Carlo stop you will need at least a jacket and tie. We are also bringing a fairly warm Fall jacket for those cool nights out on deck. A lot of walking is on our plan so good comfortable shoes that can stand up to those cobblestone streets will be coming with us.

Hope this has helped a bit. If not, let us know and we'll try to provide additional info. If you haven't already, you should also review the "Europe" board since there is a lot of good information over there especially on some of the sights near several of the ports we will be visiting. Glad you all will be on board with us!

Great, now we know 4 people before we begin! My sister is from the US (so she is meeting us there)and myself and a friend of ours from here in Canada, are travelling with our mother who has never been anywhere...so it should be interesting! So when you see three harried women with my mom you will know who we are! We spend 2 days in Rome before sailing...shopping...Look forward to seeing you on the ship!

SotosandSonia and Canadiens - Michael and Sharon (GracieatTara) are doing a back to back, and will be joining us on the 11/7 Wind Surf cruise from Nice to Barcelona. Will either of you be joining us? (We'll also be on board for 11/14 Barcelona to Lisbon.)

Regarding your question, weather.com should have some information on the weather in the largest ports, such as Rome, Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. For Nice, expect a high in the low 60's, a low of about 50, and a good chance of rain. October and November are their rainy season--about 4.5 inches each month.

Hello everyone,

We'll be on the 10/24 cruise, and staying on for a few days in Rome. As you get closer to the cruise you can check http://www.weather.com for international weather. We plan on dressing in layers - warmer in day and cool at night.

This is our 4th Windstar cruise in the Med and we cant wait to go!

We sailed twice on the WindSpirit, and next week will be our second cruise on the WindSurf. What we like most about Windstar is the small size of the ships, and the smaller ports in the Med that it visits. The food, service, and overall experience are fantastic.

The WindSurf is larger than the Spirit (but not at all large as in comparison to other cruise lines). It has suites, elevators and two restaurants, while the Windspirit has no elevators and all rooms are the same. Some people find the service on the Windstar and Windspirit to be more personal than on the Surf, but we were very happy on both.

SotosandSonia, glad to know you all are joining us as well as Canadiens on the cruise! Sounds like Canada will be well represented on the ship. It's been a long wait for this trip, but the day is quickly approaching now and there is a lot to do to get ready. Looking forward to seeing you on board!

My mom will be so amazed that I know people....(sort of) on the ship, isn't the internet amazing! Can hardly wait, we got a foot of snow over the weekend so it is going to be hard to go from winter to summer/fall packing. Looks like it has been raining in Rome all week, don't forget the umbrellas!
