Regent New Build Updated Info

In a new article in CruiseTrade (April 7, 2008) it was disclosed that Regent will be staggering its new build(s) with Oceania and that "the order will be placed in late August or early September for delivery 36-40 months later."

 

By my calculations that puts delivery at the earliest to late 2011 or early 2012. I do not know if the recent Apollo cash flow issues will push that date back.

 

I think by that time Oceania will have two new ships...though I do not know any real specifics about them. Also, Silversea and Seabourn will both have two more new (or renovated) ships each on the seas with one more to come.

 

That is is a huge number of new luxury ships (relatively speaking). I am not sure what Regent's strategy is going to be to "keep up with the Joneses", but it is going to be an interesting ride!:)
