stavs Posted April 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Hi. I am planning a cruise for myself, my wife, my in-laws, and my single mother. One of the problems we are encountering is the room charge for single mom. Is she pretty much stuck paying for double occupancy on her trip? Sharing a room is out of the question for her. We are looking at Carnival Cruises if that helps. Thanks, Stavs
wrp96 Posted April 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Carnival has some 1A staterooms that are intended for solo travelers and you pay less than a 200% single supplement for those rooms.
kitty9 Posted April 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2008 If she doesn't mind the 1A inside cabin, the price will be 150% of the regular fare. No matter what cruise line, singles pay the single supplement. On some lines it's always 200% and on the luxury lines, they charge 125%, the lowest in the business. RoofingPrincess Posted April 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2008 I'm booked in a 1A on the Carnival Ecstasy in September; for two people, the Carnival website is currently quoting $399 each, while for one person they're charging $598 - which is 150% instead of 200%. The 1A rooms are typically (but not always, from what I understand) bunk over bunk instead of two singles on the floor which might be combined to make a bigger bed. Rare Roz Posted April 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Another possibility is HAL. I've booked inside and outside cabins for 14-150% of the double occupancy rate. Roz
cferro514 Posted April 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2008 I also travel on HAL. Most of the ships are smaller than Carnivals and offer some cabin choices at 150%.
