Skagway: need train, car, lake...logistics help

I am planning on the following:

- MIL, FIL, DH, DS (9), DS (7) take the train from Skagway to Fraser (8-9:45)

- Myself and DS (18 months) p/u rental car and drive to Fraser to p/u rest of party. Will I be able to make it to Fraser to meet the 9:45 train if I leave around 8:00am?

Once picking them up, we'll go to Emerald Lake and Carcross and then back down to Skagway. I'm estimating that we'll be back around 3 or 4 pm (we move like a herd of turtles...). Does that sound like a good estimate? Will we have time for a short hike somewhere along the way?

Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your timing questions. However, have you verified you can get a vehicle large enough for the 7 of you?

That drive to Emerald Lake was the highlight of our trip. There is some beautiful country up there. We stopped several times to look around, and did the gold panning too. They were charging half of the price in Skagway.

While you have the car, stop at the cemetary just as you get back into Skagway. It is interesting, and there a pretty stream right next to it, and a trail.
