Cat 8A Balcony Cabin Question on Conquest

Greetings - this is my first post on the Carnival board, after 5 cruises on Princess and being on that part of CC for years, I feel like I just moved and I'm going to a new school for the first time looking at a Carnival cruise :-) It's exciting but I'm totally lost - and as usual the CC search option hasn't been much help.

I'm considering booking with a group on the 18 Oct 2009 cruise out of Galveston. I'm trying to decide on whether to book an 8A guarantee or pick a cabin. Looking at the deck plan I'm concerned about the noise level from the deck below and was wondering if you good people who have been on the Conquest (or a sister ship if there is one) can recommend a cabin on the "Upper" deck with less risk of a noise problem.

I need to book in the next few day to take advantage of the offer and we leave a week from today for a Panama Canal cruise - so any help from the experts would be appreciated :-)

I had 6319 on my last sailing on the Conquest. Pretty much abeam the Casino. I never heard a SOUND from below. Now, my neighbors... that's another story...

You'll want to check out the deck plans and figure out what will be above or below your cabin. Being on the Upper level, you run the risk of being above the casino or the show lounge. You might be better off booking on the Empress level, as it is sandwiched between two cabin levels.

Thanks Host Mach!

home_sea_home - that's what I have been thinking of doing if I can't figure out a cabin on the "Upper" deck - but I lose out on some of the group bennies if I do that, but it's not a show stopper.

Thanks!

I had 6272 and we did have some issues with loud music around 10pm-midnight. Not sure if it was wafting up from the lobby or the various lounges but it was very noticeable and we were not above or below any of the lounges per se', so maybe it was since we were near the atrium/elevator? I would pick a room and not go with the guarantee

Yeah... you guys were directly abeam the atrium and that can get loud once in a while.

What I'd suggest for the OP is go ahead and book the guarantee and once you have paid more than the minimum deposit ($500) you're free to select your cabin. That will keep you from being stuck directly across from the elevator or such locations.

We are booked on the Conquest for September 7, 2008, and had our room moved from 6347 because it was right above the casino to 6315 which is above the shops. We were told that we shouldn't have any problems with noise in 6315. It was our concern as well which is why we moved. I hope this helps. Also, 6315 has upper bunks in the ceiling. Just a note.
