daylight savings.... does it effect cruises?

Recommended Posts

i just had an intersting thought... its daylight savings this weekend...

do they observe daylight savings in the caribbean? if so, does that mean that people currently on cruises where daylight savings is observed, lose an hour of their cruise?!?!? or does that mean in the fall, certain people get an extra hour in their cruise?!?!?

i just thought it was something to think about...

jstducky!

It depends on the ship and the cruise line as they set their own rules. They do let the passengers know when time changes need to be made. They usually leave a notice in your room.

I would always hope for anything that would extend my cruise.

I've been on six cruises when the change was made one way or the other and yes all of them changed the clocks at 2 a.m. this would need to be done in order to stay in time with the departure port. this is assuming your departure was made from a u. s. port. now while i lose an hour in the spring i book the right week in the fall to gain it back. lol

Gee, no more spring cruises for me (during the switchover). I'm only gonna sail during the fall, set back clock time, when I can get more bang for the $.

A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work.

The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good.

Platinum with RCI, a couple cruises with NCL and 1 with CCL

Huh???? The length of the cruise still the same. The length of a day is still 24 hours whether you move the hands on a clock or not. icon_cool.gif

Actually, when they move the clock ahead that day really only has 23 hrs in it.

And when they move them back that one will really have 25.

Unless, of course you cross the intl date line. Then all bets are off.

I am just speaking without double checking, but I believe that Grand Cayman does not recognize DST,but Cozumel does.

birdyhunter??? Where have you been- has Michigan gone through daylight savings time lately??

Not trying to embarass you icon_wink.gif, but you are wrong...Try again icon_razz.gif. DST does make this week an hour shorter- and a fall week, an hour longer...

Have a great trip everyone...Sorry for the bad news those on ships this week...
